Roots (1977)

Roots is a 1977 historical drama mini-series set during the United States era of slavery. The 9-time Emmy award-winning series is based on the novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family by Alex Haley. The series tells the story of Haley's family, from their ancestor Kunta Kinte all the way through his descendants' liberation.
