Mr. Holmes stars Ian McKellen as an old and retired Sherlock Holmes struggling with dementia. Throughout the film, he attempts to recall the details of his final case and the memory of a mysterious woman. Despite being retired for decades, a young fan, the son of his housekeeper, tries to get him to investigate a new case.
