After the release of 2016's Suicide Squad, David Ayer was attached to direct Gotham City Sirens, a team-up movie based on the DC Comics series of the same name, starring Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn alongside Poison Ivy and Catwoman. However, the film transformed into the 2020 movie Birds of Prey, and the end of the DCEU put a definitive end to Ayer's original idea for his second DC project.
