When the newly crowned Queen Elsa accidentally uses her power to turn things into ice to curse her home in infinite winter, her sister, Anna, teams up with a mountain man, his playful reindeer, and a snowman to change the weather condition.
Frozen was released by Disney Animation in fall 2013 and became one of the studio's biggest hits of all-time. Receiving widespread critical acclaim, the film also earned $400 million at the domestic box office and more than $1 billion worldwide. It is the third-highest grossing Disney animated film, trailing only Pixar's Finding Dory and Toy Story 3. Frozen took home two Oscars at the Academy Awards, winning Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. Standout track "Let It Go" became a global phenomenon and received many accolades. The overwhelming success of the movie spawned a new franchise for Disney, and in the years since, there has been a Broadway adaptation and a new animated short starring Olaf.
A direct sequel, Frozen 2, is set to hit theaters in 2019.
