A U.S. diplomat (Jon Hamm) flees Lebanon in 1972 after a tragic incident at his home. Ten years later, he is called back to war-torn Beirut by CIA operatives (Rosamund Pike) to negotiate for the life of a friend he left behind.
This film has been in development since 2015, when Hamm originally signed on to star. Rosamund Pike also joined in 2015, but the rest of the supporting cast did not sign on until 2016. Filming started in June 2016. Beirut held its world premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, months before its U.S. theatrical release.
