From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.
This will be the 20th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sequel to 2015's Ant-Man. That original film was another critical and commercial success for the studio, grossing $519.3 million at the worldwide box office. Scott Lang also appeared in 2016's Captain America: Civil War as a member of Cap's team. Ant-Man and the Wasp marks the first time a woman superhero serves as the co-lead in an MCU production, with Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne taking the mantle of The Wasp to form a formidable team with Scott. The film was officially announced as part of the MCU slate in October 2015, just a few months after the success of the first movie. It began production in August 2017 and ran through November of that year.
Ant-Man first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1962, in Tales to Astonish #27. Wasp debuted a year later in Tales to Astonish #44.
