Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.
Alien: Covenant is the latest installment of the Alien film franchise, which started with the original film in 1979 (also directed by Ridley Scott). The success of the movie, which was praised for its horror tone and iconic imagery, led to multiple sequels – most notably, James Cameron’s Aliens. After the disappointing Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, plus two underwhelming Alien vs. Predator crossovers, Scott returned behind the camera to helm the prequel Prometheus. Covenant is a sequel to Prometheus, and is the second entry in a planned trilogy.
Scott hopes to film the Covenant sequel soon.
