Sylvester Stallone has shared a heartwarming image of himself and his daughter at the Rocky Balboa statue in Philadelphia. Stallone became a Hollywood icon for his portrayal of the beloved boxer. The Rocky franchise kicked off in the 1970s, with the most recent mainline entry in the series hitting theaters in 2006, followed by the start of the Creed spinoff franchise in 2015.

Rocky debuted in 1976 and fundamentally changed the sports movie genre forever. With Stallone in the titular role, the film followed small-time boxer Rocky Balboa as he gets a shot at the big time against boxing champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). As the series progressed, it explored the highs and lows of Rocky’s worldwide fame as a boxer, with the hero eventually getting his own statue at the top of his iconic steps in Philadelphia – which remains on those steps in the current Creed timeline. That statue has become so iconic that it has remained in Philadelphia for Rocky fans to visit and pay their respects to the character.

Not only do Rocky fans visit the Rocky statue in Philadelphia, but it seems that Sylvester Stallone himself is also happy to stop by. In fact, the actor recently posted a photo to Instagram showing himself and his daughter Sophia Stallone taking a trip to the landmark. Check out the recent post below.

Sylvester Stallone has never been afraid to embrace his legacy as an action movie icon, and now he seems eager to pass that legacy on to his children. In the above image, the actor can be seen flexing at the Rocky statue in Philadelphia alongside his daughter Sophia Stallone. In the caption, he jokingly notes that he is eager to get her involved in the franchise as Rocky’s daughter “Roxana.” Of course, Rocky Balboa already has a son, Robert Balboa (played by Milo Ventimiglia), but adding a daughter to the mix would be a new wrinkle to possibly continue Rocky’s overall storyline.

While Stallone claims to be joking about the possibility of Sophia Stallone stepping in as Rocky’s daughter, it will be interesting to see how the Rocky storyline continues. Rocky already has a son in the existing continuity, but Robert has not played a significant role in the films in recent years. While it does not seem likely that the franchise would reveal a previously unknown child, it’s not entirely outside the realm of possibility. In fact, Creed is very much based on that concept, so the idea of “Roxana” coming into the picture is not the most outlandish thing the Rocky franchise has done. The Rocky timeline will continue when Creed III hits theaters on November 23, 2022.
