Sydney Paight and Isaiah Campbell's relationship was not smooth sailing, but as the Love Island USA season finale nears, it seems every rough wave they hit was building their resilience as a pair. No one makes it out of the villa unscathed, but the young couple may have had one of the rockiest experiences in Love Island history. The pair seemed doomed from the start as they had barely settled into the villa before Isaiah had already run off with bombshell Valerie Bragg, leaving Sydney crying to her fellow islanders about how he'd hurt her feelings. However, things didn't end here.

Valerie was not able to win Isaiah over; had other bombshells taken note of his dedication to Sydney, they would have saved themselves a lot of energy and tears. Sydney took a leap of faith by recoupling with Andy Voyen but fell flat on her face and right back into Isaiah's arms. The islander didn't recouple with anyone else for the rest of the season, but Isaiah was not as loyal. After leaving his connection with Nadjha Day to stay with Sydney, he betrayed his partner at Love Island USA's Casa Amor and returned ready to give Phoebe Siegel a chance. However, that did not last long, and Isaiah was back with his day one partner.

Things shifted after Casa Amor, and while Isaiah had one more slip up, he was able to reconcile with Sydney, and the two are now stronger than ever. For some couples, like Courtney Boerner, and the many male islanders that couldn't please her, nothing seemed worth the effort, and the islander moved on when things weren't going the way she wanted them to. Valerie had a similar experience with Jesse Bray when she cut ties after finding out he still had feelings for Deb Chubb and wanted to be in a couple with her. However, when the going got tough, Sydney and Isaiah kept going. Their persistence in working on their relationship is what helped them last so long in the villa.

Maybe it's their young age that's the cause of their passion, but whatever the case, they were able to work through everything Love Island USA threw their way, and it's only brought them closer. Sydney's had a few moments where she considered leaving Isaiah and wondered if their bond had been tainted by all his poor decisions. But she stuck it out, and from the looks of it, Sydney made the right decision. For some couples in the villa, it's been all sunshine and rainbows since they met. However, this could make things tricky when post-villa life kicks in, and they have to face the real world. Luckily, Sydney and Isaiah are well-equipped to face anything life throws at them since they've overcome so much in the villa already.

Not everyone wants to stick it out in messy situations, but it seems like sometimes the ones that do become unstoppable. However, this requires both parties to work on themselves and their relationship, which Sydney and Isaiah have done. They have reached a more peaceful place in their relationship by owning up to their mistakes and putting the effort into making a change. While it may have seemed like the two were falling apart on several occasions, they shocked islanders and fans by not allowing any chaos to demolish their connection. As they say, what doesn't kill you makes you the strongest couple at the Love Island USA villa.

The Love Island USA season finale airs on August 28th at 9 p.m. EST on Peacock.
