The Life Day event for Star Wars: The Old Republic is currently going on as the game's December events continue, bringing snowball fights, warm Wookiee hugs, and more. The month of events in Star Wars: The Old Republic began with the Pirate Incursion, which began on December 1 and ran until December 8. Dantooine was the center of focus for the event, and Nova Blade Pirates are attacking the area as a ploy for the Imperial Forces. Conflict ensues as the Republic attempts to defend its world. Like any event, rewards are available for participating that include mounts like a Walker or armor sets based on the Nova Blade Pirates.

This month is also the 9th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, having originally launched back on December 20, 2011. Parallel to some of the holiday additions to the game, an anniversary event began on December 15 which will run until January 5, 2021. Players can access a special anniversary vendor that provides rewards from the event that are both new and from previous anniversary events. On top of the rewards and the vendor, Coruscant and Dromund Kaas stronghold homes will be available to purchase for just 9 credits each. That's a steal compared to the usual prices of The Old Republic's strongholds.

Of course, the focal point for the month of events is the Life Day celebration, as the in-universe holiday has been an annual tradition in the Star Wars MMO for a while now. Star Wars: The Old Republic released a schedule on its official site that lists the ongoing and coming events, as well as the rewards they offer. The Life Day begins on December 15 and runs until January 5, 2021 Much of the event includes throwing snowballs at NPCs or other players to complete missions and reap the rewards. On top of the snowball madness is of course the Wookiee revelers whom Life Day is celebrated by, and they've got "Wookiee hugs" on offer for all.

When players are done throwing snowballs at each other and getting hugs from holiday Wookiees, they can also take part in the Rakghoul Resurgence. The event also takes place annually alongside the holiday festivities that SWTOR players are used to. Rakghoul Resurgence is typically more focused around plague-themed content that contains the potential for reputation and event specific rewards. Afterwards, the Pirate Incursion and the Ultimate Swoop Rally will round out the December month of events.

Holiday events are almost always a great time in MMO games, providing casual seasonal fun for players to help players get into the spirit of things. It's also great to see Star Wars: The Old Republic continually add updates and in-game events to provide fresh content so long after launch; with the game's big tenth anniversary coming up next year, players will likely be in for a particularly celebratory time in 2021.
