Amazon Prime recently released a new version of the Joe Wright-directed movie Hanna for the small screen. The 2011 movie told the story of an assassin (Eric Bana) and his daughter (Saoirse Ronan), who he trained to use his specific skills to protect herself as well. At the age of 16, she is sent on a mission in Europe.

The Amazon Prime series starred Joel Kinnaman and Esme Creed-Miles in the lead roles and follows a similar storyline, as the young girl sets off trying to track down a CIA agent in an attempt to learn more about herself and who she really is.  For people who loved the new Amazon Prime take on Hanna, here are 15 other great suspenseful TV shows to binge-watch.

YOU

Netflix YOU Love And Joe Talking By Bed

There are two seasons so far of You on Netflix, with a third season coming likely in 2021. The show is similar to Dexter in that it is a movie that puts the viewers in the shoes of the serial killer. Penn Badgley is Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager who starts a toxic relationship with a girl who has no idea that he is a sociopath. The second season of You has Joe move from New York to Los Angeles to escape his past, but the sins follow him and he soon starts over again.

THE ALIENIST

Sara in the thriller series The Alienist

The Alienist is a regular cable series that aired on TNT that has played out for two seasons so far. The first season saw Daniel Bruhl, Luke Evans, and Dakota Fanning as a team assembled in the 1890s-era New York to find a serial killer that is killing street children.

The first season even includes historical figures, including Theodore Roosevelt as the police commissioner. The second season had a subtitle of The Angel of Darkness, which sends the same team after another serial killer when a baby is kidnapped.

MONEY HEIST

Money Heist Season 1-The Hostage negotiation scene

Money Heist is one of the most successful foreign-language films on Netflix in the United States. The series is a heist drama that focuses on two long-worked heists, the first on the Royal Mint of Spain and the second on the Bank of Spain.

Money Heist has played out over what is considered to be four parts but was officially two seasons, each one split in half. The series is more than just a heist as well since no one knows who they can trust or what the end game really is.

MINDHUNTER

The original FBI special agents on Netflix.

Fans who love Criminal Minds need to check out the Netflix series Mindhunter, which is based on the real introduction of the FBI Behavioural Crime Unit and how the team formed and developed. Produced by David Fincher, Jonathan Groff, and Holt McCallany star as two agents who go in to interview serial killers as they try to use this information to help them solve other murders. Anna Torv is a psychology professor who helps them put together the dossiers. The second season of Mindhunter takes on a real case, with the Atlanta murders of 1979-81.

MR. ROBOT

Mr Robot Rami Malek

Mr. Robot aired on USA Network and is one of the best thriller mysteries to air on a basic cable channel in years. Sam Esmail created the series and directed the episodes with Rami Malek starring in the lead role. Malek is Elliot, a clinically depressed man whose father died.

However, he sees his dead father (called Mr. Robot), who is giving him really bad advice throughout, until at one point, people realize that Elliot and Mr. Robot are the same person, although Elliot has no idea what happens when Mr. Robot takes over. The series played out for 45 episodes and four seasons and has come to an end.

JACK RYAN

Hanna isn't the first remake that Amazon Prime has developed as a series. In 2018, the streaming service released its version of Jack Ryan, based on the Tom Clancy character. There had been a number of movies about Ryan, with Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine playing the character. The Amazon series had John Krasinski step into the role.

Jack Ryan is an eight-episode series from Amazon Prime and will get a second and third season, both already greenlit as well. The first season has Ryan removed from his desk job and sent into the field to help find an international criminal.

THE NIGHT MANAGER

Originally jointly released on BBC and AMC, The Night Manager stars Tom Hiddleston (Thor) as a former British soldier recruited to infiltrate the organization of an arms dealer portrayed by Hugh Laurie (House). He ends up embroiled in controversy because the U.S. intelligence community has an alliance with the arms trader.

There are six episodes in the series, which was itself based on the novel of the same name by John le Carré. The series was a critical success, winning awards at both the Emmys and Golden Globes. The Night Manager series is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime.

THE WIDOW

Another great suspenseful television series released on Amazon Prime is The Widow. The series stars Kate Beckinsale as Georgia Wells, a widow whose husband died while traveling by plane to Africa. However, during a news report about civil unrest in the Congo, she sees a man in the background that looks just like her husband.

Georgia then sets out to Africa to uncover the truth and find out if her husband really did fake his own death. KILLING EVE

Originally airing on BBC America, Killing Eve took the world by storm in 2018. The show starred Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy) as an MI5 officer who grows obsessed with an assassin portrayed by Jodie Comer. The problems come when the assassin reciprocates the obsession and the two end up in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse.

Fans of Killing Eve got great news when BBC and AMC announced they would co-produce the second season and air it on both networks in 2019. The original season had eight episodes and the second season started airing in April. Fans can catch up with season 1 on both the AMC app and Hulu.

NARCOS

Narcos is a Netflix series that aired for two seasons focusing on the life and death of the most famous drug kingpin in history, portrayed on the series by Wagner Moura. Pedro Pascal starred as Javier Peña as the DEA Agent who set out to bring down Escobar and then starred in season 3 as he tried to take down the Cali Cartel.

All three seasons are available for streaming on Netflix, with a fourth season released in 2018 retitled Narcos: Mexico. The new series looked at the origin of the war on drugs when the Mexican traffickers worked mostly as disorganized dealers. Michael Peña starred in this series.

OZARK

In 2017, Netflix released the suspense series Ozark, which starred Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde, a financial advisor who ends up embroiled in a life of crime when he helps a Mexican drug cartel launder money. He and his wife Wendy (Laura Linney) relocate from Chicago to the Ozarks and find their lives in constant danger from the cartels and the law enforcement agencies.

There have been two seasons to date with a total of 20 episodes for suspense lovers to binge. Bateman's performance was highly touted, with the actor winning a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2019 for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

A second season came in 2018 with Pullman returning and taking on the case of a young boy accused of killing his parents. Once again, he has to piece together a tormented past in order to figure out why this murder happened. Each season has eight episodes and the first is available to stream on Netflix.

THE KILLING

The Killing is an American remake of a Danish television series called Forbrydelisen. The first season, starring Mireille Enos, Billy Campbell and Joel Kinnaman, aired in 2011 and told the story of two detectives investigating the killing of a local teenager. AMC aired three seasons and after canceling it, Netflix picked it up for a fourth.

There was a total of 44 episodes, with the final being a shortened six-episode season to conclude the series, revealing the fallout surrounding the detective's methods of solving a murder in season 3.  All four seasons are currently streaming on Hulu and Amazon Prime.

TRUE DETECTIVE

True Detective is an HBO original series and has produced three total seasons of varying success. The first season was a monster success with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson starring as two detectives investigating the murder of a serial killer. The second season was considered a disappointment, with Vince Vaughan, Rachel McAdams and Colin Farrell starring in a twisted and complicated murder mystery.

In the third season, which aired in 2019, Oscar winner Mahershala Ali stars as a former police detective who is forced to relive an unsolved case from his younger days, while also battling dementia. It was a return to form for True Detective. All three seasons are streaming on HBO's platforms.

THE AMERICANS

The longest suspense series on this list is The Americans, which ran for six seasons and a total of 75 episodes. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys star as Communist sleeper cell agents from '80s era Soviet Union. They start off as a happy American family who is then called into action and find themselves involved in covert operations against the United States while trying to keep the face of an American family and protecting their kids.

The American Film Institute named it one of the top 10 shows of the year in five of its six seasons, with it also winning a Golden Globe in 2018. All six seasons of The Americans is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
