Survivor has been around for years, and fans have enjoyed 40 seasons of new (and returning) castaways fighting to become the Sole Survivor. While there have been 39 winners so far, there are definitely some that remain fan favorites, and others that questionably took home the big prize.

Of course, their fate is in the jury, and some seasons are much closer than others. For huge fans of the show, it might be interesting to look back at who really stole their season. Here are 5 castaways that swept the final vote unanimously, and 5 that only won by a single vote.

Nearly Tied: Richard Hatch - Survivor: Borneo

In the very first season of this hit competition show, the first Sole Survivor was actually a close call. Richard Hatch won the first title against Kelly Wiglesworth in a 4-3 split.

Richard stole the vote due to his leadership and strategy skills, but Kelly has still proven to be a challenge queen, and has since returned to the show. However, Richard Hatch will always be the original winner.

Swept The Vote: Earl Cole - Survivor: Fiji

The fourteenth season was the first time fans got to see a full sweep at the final tribal council. Up against Cassandra Franklin and Andria Herd, Earl Cole received all nine votes to become the winner of his season.

With a quiet player and a loose cannon at his side, Earl Cole swept the vote for playing the best game out of the three, becoming the first player ever to do so.

Nearly Tied: Tina Wesson - Survivor: The Australian Outback

In the early seasons of the show, it was much more common for players to be neck-and-neck at the final tribal council. Tina Wesson won 4-3 against Colby Donaldson, who is also esteemed as a challenge beast.

Of course, Tina's strategy and relationships are what gave her the upper hand, and just barely swung the final vote in her favor, becoming the second Sole Survivor on the series.

Swept The Vote: James "J.T." Thomas Kr. - Survivor: Tocantins

J.T. has become one of the most memorable players from the show. With brains and brawn, this lovable player won all seven votes against Stephen Fishbach. Although there were many great players that season, J.T. certainly deserved the crown.

With challenge wins and incredible social skills, J.T. is one of the most loved players of the game, and is one of five to ever sweep the final vote.

Nearly Tied: Amber Brkich - Survivor: All-Stars

This is one tie that fans are confident has been forgiven by all players. With three tribes of returning players, the final two consisted of Amber Brkich and Survivor legend, Rob Mariano. Amber took home the win with a 4-3 split.

Of course, these two are now happily married, both have the title of Sole Survivor, and are both competing on season 40, Winners at War. Clearly, they both won in the end.

Swept The Vote: John Cochran - Survivor: Caramoan

Fans will probably remember actually hating this player in his first season. However, when he returned among 10 returning players and 10 new ones, Cochran became one of the best players of the game.

He swept all eight votes against Dawn Meehan and Sherri Biethman, and has become quite the Survivor expert since he took home the crown.

Nearly Tied: Yul Kwon - Survivor: Cook Islands

The thirteenth season of this series left fans with some incredible and iconic players. Yul Kwon and Ozzy Lusth were in the final three with Becky Lee. Yul won over Ozzy in a 5-4 split, his strategic skill winning over Ozzy's challenge wins.

These two have both become incredibly memorable, strong, and loved players, and have played again since their time on the thirteenth season of the show.

Swept The Vote: Jeremy Collins - Survivor: Cambodia

In a season of returning players, there was a lot of tough competition to be had during the 31st season. Finding himself in the final three with Spencer Bledsoe and Tasha Fox, Jeremy Collins received all 10 votes from returning players.

That's a pretty incredible feat, and Jeremy Collins is still fighting to prove himself against the winners of other seasons in the current season, Winners at War.

Nearly Tied: Wendell Holland - Survivor: Ghost Island

This season certainly made history at the final tribal council. The final three was Wendell Holland, Domenick Abbate, and Laurel Johnson. For the first time ever, a tie of 5-5 ensued between two players.

As a result, Laurel was the final vote to decide who would be named Sole Survivor. Wendell took home the title thanks to Laurel, and won his season by what is certainly known as the closest call in Survivor history.

Swept The Vote: Adam Klein - Survivor: Millenials vs. Gen X

Adam Klein was kind of a villain during his season, but there is no denying that he played the best game and earned his final three spot, as well as the title of Sole Survivor.

Up against Hannah Shapiro and Ken McNickle, this player received all 10 votes, making him the most recent, and one of five, castaways in history to do so.
