Survivor 43 recently premiered with a brand-new cast recently, and it is looking like an exciting season. This new era of Survivor makes fans feel excited about the future, but also nostalgic for the past. The show has been on for so long and so many contestants have tried to win the million dollars and the title of sole survivor.

One of the most memorable seasons was Survivor: Africa. 16 Strangers competed in Kenya for the ultimate prize. The cast consisted of a lot of interesting characters from around the United States. It has been about 20 years since these castaways graced fans' television screens, so what have they been up to since?

Clarence Black

Clarence came in 10th place on Survivor: Africa and just missed out on the jury. The Detroit native was voted out on day 21.

Clarence did an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he discussed everything he has been up to since Survivor: Africa. He worked in sports radio directly after the show and then moved into sports television. He had multiple series where he talked about teams from his native Detroit area. In 2010, he was a direct commission to the Army reserve, and he is a Public Affairs Captain today.

Kelly Goldsmith

Kelly was the first member of the jury when she was voted out on day 24. She was able to make the merge, which is a great accomplishment, but she came in 9th place. Kelly was one contestant who revealed some behind-the-scenes secrets of Survivor.

Since Survivor: Africa, Kelly has focused her life on education, according to an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She earned her Ph.D. from Yale in 2009 and then went on to teach at some prestigious universities. She has taught at Northwestern and currently is at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt. Brandon Quinton

Brandon is most likely remembered for his friction with the older members of his tribe since he did not like their old-fashioned ways of thinking. He came in 8th place on the season.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brandon detailed some troubles he had after the show premiered. Brandon struggled with drinking and other vices and kept spiraling down until he hit rock bottom. Luckily, Brandon turned his life around. He went back to school and became a registered nurse. He works in a home for the elderly.

Frank Garrison

Frank is remembered for his inability to connect with his younger cast mates, or for loudly voicing his conservative political opinion. Because of the latter, Frank is one of the most controversial players Survivor has ever had. Frank came in 7th place.

Frank took a long time before he spoke publicly about his time on the show. In 2019, Frank was a guest on Rob Has A Podcast, which is hosted by former Survivor contestant Rob Cesternino, and he updated fans about his life after Survivor: Africa. Frank worked as a telephone technician for some years. He lives a quiet life with his wife, Holly, and their two daughters.

Kim Powers

Kim came in 6th place on Survivor: Africa. She might be most remembered for flipping on her closest ally Brandon at the final 9. She was voted out on day 33.

According to Reality TV World, Kim has remained in the Survivor social circle. Kim married fellow Survivor contestant Alex from Survivor: Amazon, so they joined a long list of great Survivor couples. The two of them adopted a daughter named Bella. They live a peaceful life in San Francisco, California.

Teresa Cooper

Teresa was a fan favorite on Survivor: Africa. She came in 5th place, and fans are clamoring to see Teresa play the game again.

Teresa revealed her life after the show in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She is a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines and recently celebrated her 40th year with the company. She is also into real estate in her home in Atlanta. She got her license just before leaving for Survivor. She also appears on Rob Cesternino's podcast.

Tom Buchanan

Tom, or Big Tom, was a lighthearted, comedic presence on the show. He came in 4th place on Survivor: Africa after the only castaway not in his final three alliance won immunity.

Since Survivor: Africa, Tom appeared on the show again for Survivor: All-Stars. He came in 5th that season. According to Big Tom's Facebook page, he still works in agriculture. He works on his family farm Valley View Farms in Rich Valley Virginia. The establishment has been passed down from generation to generation.

Lex Van Den Berghe

Lex came in third place this season and just missed the finale. His most memorable quality this season was the paranoia he experienced in the post-merge.

Lex went on to compete in Survivor: All-Stars, and would come in 9th after Boston Rob famously betrayed him. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lex explained how his life has not changed much since going on the show. He lives with his wife and two sons in Santa Cruz, California. He is also the drummer for a few rock-and-roll bands.

Kim Johnson

Kim was the runner-up on Survivor: Africa. She was the oldest person ever to win the final individual immunity, but Kim lost the final vote 5-2.

Kim has has kept out of the public eye since appearing on Survivor 20 years ago. At the time, she was already retired as an elementary school teacher, but had worked as a tournament coordinator for an indoor tennis club, according to her official CBS bio, but her whereabouts today are unknown. She is currently 78 years old.

Ethan Zohn

Ethan was the winner of Survivor: Africa. He won by being loyal to the Boran alliance. He is known as one of the most likable winners in Survivor history.

He would go on to compete on the show two more times in Survivor: All-Stars and Winners At War. He would place 11th and 18th, respectively. After All-Stars, Ethan battled cancer twice, once in 2009 and 2013. He beat it and then went to compete in Winners At War. According to his website, EthanZohn.com, he does event speaking, as well as sells apparel.
