CBS has unveiled the new logo for the upcoming 41st season of Survivor, which confirms previous reports that they will no longer use subtitles for future seasons. The long-running reality competition series debuted back in the summer of 2000. Imported from Sweden, Survivor crowned Richard Hatch its very first winner. That inaugural installment was the only season to not have a subtitle, though it's retroactively been given a "Borneo" subtitle. Other winners who outwitted, outplayed and outlasted over the years include Tina Wesson, Ethan Zohn, Yul Kwon, Parvati Shallow, Rob Mariano and John Cochran. Survivor celebrated its milestone 20th anniversary and 40th season last year by having an all-winners season, which resulted in Tony Vlachos becoming only the second two-time winner in the history of the series, after Sandra Diaz-Twine.

Filming for the next season of Survivor was delayed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Host Jeff Probst and the crew were finally able to start production in the spring. The show has been following COVID protocols to ensure that everyone involved stays safe and healthy. But season 41 wasn't the only installment to face a delay. It was reported in May that Survivor season 42 was delayed after Fiji, the country where the show has filmed for several years, extended its ban on international flights, largely because of India's surge in coronavirus cases.

CBS is starting to promote the upcoming season of the reality show. The official Survivor Instagram page posted a look at the official logo for season 41. What's most notable about this new logo is something that's missing. This logo confirms previous reports that Survivor will no longer use subtitles going forward. In the early years of the series, the subtitle was named after the location in which they were filming. In recent years, they switched over to subtitles based on the theme for the season. The number 41 is prominent at the top of the logo. The colors are pastel-like, with lightning clouds on either side of a hand holding a torch that's rising out of a body of water, and a sunrise can be seen in the background. The "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast" slogan is featured as usual. Check out the new logo below:

The comments section is filled with past Survivor players and fans complimenting the new logo. Kelley Wentworth said, "This logo is...beautiful." Rodney Lavoie Jr. replied with fire emojis. Eliza Orlins said she "cannot wait for this." Even CBS got in on the action by commenting, "We are obsessed with this new look."

Since Survivor has ditched subtitles, it's unclear if season 41 will feature any of the usual twists fans have come to expect, or if the show is going back to basics like the early years of the series. A reason hasn't been given for why they're getting rid of the subtitles. Probst and the other producers may have felt that forcing an entire season to fit a particular theme was limiting in what they could accomplish. Maybe seasons going forward will be more focused on other elements that fans love, like the challenges and alliances, and less on twists like Redemption Island and Hidden Immunity Idols. But one thing that is clear is Survivor fans can't wait for their favorite reality show to return in the fall.
