The characters in Sing 2 were voiced by a star-studded cast including Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, and Bono. McConaughey and Witherspoon reprised the roles of Buster Moon and Rosita from the first Sing movie, and Bono played a new character named Clay Calloway.

Not only were the main characters voiced by famous individuals, but so were many of the background characters in the movie. Some particularly notable directors voiced characters who only appeared briefly in the movie. Some other background characters were also voiced by the crew who made Sing 2, along with family members of the cast and crew. All of these voices were revealed in a behind-the-scenes video that was part of Sing 2's digital release.

Edgar Wright

Pig chauffeur voiced by Edgar Wright drives in Sing 2

Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver, and Last Night in Soho director Edgar Wright voiced two characters in Sing 2. He voices a pig chauffeur who drives the movie's antagonist Jimmy Crystal.

In a different scene, Wright voices a dog police officer. The dog is seen on an escalator and asks Nooshy if she has a license to perform as he chases after her. Wright's films are tonally very different from Sing 2, which makes his voice cameo all the more thrilling.

Spike Jonze

Cat voiced by Spike Jonze calls out in Sing 2

Her director Spike Jonze voices Jerry the cat in Sing 2. Jerry is an employee who works for Jimmy Crystal. When Crystal is taken away by the authorities toward the end of the movie, Jerry professes his love for his employer.

Jonze's frenetic voice was a perfect fit for a character who was often overwhelmed, trying to do a million things at once, and doing everything he could to please Crystal.

Wes Anderson

Janitor voiced by Wes Anderson stares in Sing 2 Cropped

The wide-eyed tarsier janitor who says, "No one is supposed to be in here" is voiced by Wes Anderson. Anderson's films are usually visually unique and have a quirky sensibility to them.

There is something visually unique and quirky about the hundreds of wide-eyed tarsier janitors wearing blue uniforms cleaning up and simultaneously staring at the main characters, making this a great fit for Anderson's voice cameo.

Matthew McConaughey’s Daughter Vida McConaughey

Pig plays in chocolate in Sing 2

Matthew McConaughey voices Sing 2's protagonist Buster Moon. He is not the only member of the McConaughey family whose voice is used in the movie, though. His daughter Vida McConaughey voices the piglet who plays in the chocolate fountain and shouts, "This is the best day of my life, daddy!" This came after one of the best quotes in Sing 2 when Rosita tells her husband to release the piglets.

This scene was already one of the most hilarious and adorable in the movie. It is even better knowing that the piglet is voiced by McConaughey's daughter, giving new and even more wholesome meaning to the line where she tells her father it is one of the best days of her life.

Sing 2 Executive Producer Dana Krupinski’s Daughter Adeline

Buster Moon looks up excitedly in Sing 2

Dana Krupinski was an executive producer for Sing 2 and was an assistant to executive producer Eric McLeod for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End.

Her daughter Adeline voices one of the piglets in Sing 2. She is the piglet who asks Buster Moon if her mother is going to jump from the tall height. The awe in her voice when talking about her mother is even cuter knowing that the voice actress's real mother is an executive producer. According to director Garth Jennings in the behind-the-scenes video about the hidden voices in the movie, Adeline was the last voice ever recorded for Sing 2.

Sing 2 Editor Gregory Perler

Arrow points to Gregory Perler's offscreen character voice in Sing 2

In addition to editing both Sing movies, Gregory Perler worked on other animated movies such as Tarzan and Despicable Me. Perler's Sing 2 character does not physically appear onscreen.

His character's voice can be heard offscreen. The voice announces "We're all set over here, Mr. Moon" over a loudspeaker while Buster Moon and other key characters are on the set for their show.

Garth Jennings

Miss Crawley returns in a damaged car in Sing 2

Director Garth Jennings has one of the most unique voice cameos in the movie. He makes the sounds of the airbag when the hilarious and likable character Miss Crawly--who Jennings also voices--returns in a severely battered car after searching for Clay Calloway.

The airbag is not the director's only cameo as he does the voice announcing bus times at the bus terminal as Buster Moon and the other characters prepare to board their bus. Many directors have cameos or play a character in their own movie, but Jennings is notable in that he voices one of the most prominent characters and has two voice cameos.

Secret Life of Pets, Despicable Me, & The Lorax Director Chris Renaud

Monkey director voiced by Chris Renaud gives directions in Sing 2

While numerous directors have voice cameos in Sing 2, Chris Renaud is the only one who voices a director character in the movie. Renaud voices the monkey director who counts down to when his television episode will be on the air.

As the director of some particularly popular animated movies, it is a nice nod to have Renaud voice a director in this popular animated movie. Sing 2 is produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures, studios that also produced and distributed some of Renaud's movies.

The Grinch (2018) Director Scott Mosier

Walrus construction worker voiced by Scott Mosier tells everyone that Buster Moon has no idea what he is doing in Sing 2

Buster Moon is embarrassed when a walrus construction worker tells everyone that "Hey, this guy doesn't have it figured out, so we can't start work right now. Everybody hear that?"

The walrus is voiced by Scott Mosier. He was the director of the 2018 animated movie The Grinch. Mosier's voice is a perfect match for a construction worker who is tired of waiting around for people who don't know what they're doing.

Sing 2 Producer Joy Poirel

GPS voiced by Joy Poirel in Sing 2

Miss Crawly uses a GPS on her journey to find the intelligent rock star character Clay Calloway. The GPS is voiced by producer Joy Poirel. Similar to some of the other voice cameos, Poirel also worked on the Despicable Me movies.

She has a spot-on GPS voice. While Poirel will hopefully work as a producer on many other animated movies, she also has a great voice for more voice acting opportunities.
