Two weeks after Superstore was cancelled by NBC, a spin-off is in development centered on couple Cheyenne and Bo. Created by Justin Spitzer, Superstore premiered in 2015 and steadily became a reliable performer for NBC. The workplace comedy focuses on the employees of big box store Cloud 9 as they cope with the joys of working in retail. Over its six seasons, Superstore has tackled real world topics like unions and undocumented immigrants, making for quite the poignant sitcom. Currently, the show is covering the COVID-19 pandemic and how it impacts the essential workers who frequently interact with the public.

Sadly, however, Superstore will soon come to an end. Earlier this month, news broke that Superstore will conclude after its current sixth season, which will wrap up in spring 2021. This comes on the heels of series lead America Ferrera exiting two episodes into the season. Originally, Ferrera was supposed to leave at the end of season 5, but the pandemic delayed it. As Superstore approaches its end, fans are already mourning it, but it now seems like it might not be gone forever.

According to Deadline, NBC is in the process of developing a Superstore spin-off centered on bubbly but ditzy Cheyenne (Nichole Sakura) and her husband Bo (Johnny Pemberton). Both actors would return for Bo & Cheyenne, which follows the couple as they "balance their big dreams with the harsh realities of being a blue-collar family in America." Bo & Cheyenne comes from Superstore writers-executive producers Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu, with Spitzer also on hand to executive produce alongside Ruben Fleischer and David Bernad.

Cheyenne and Bo's rollercoaster of a relationship has been well documented on Superstore, seeing them go from unwitting teen parents to a properly married couple raising their daughter Harmonica. The recently promoted Cheyenne has been a part of Superstore's ensemble from the very beginning, while Bo is a recurring player. That the spin-off will focus on them might be a surprising development to some, but the theme of watching the couple struggle with everyday obstacles while dreaming big could provide some strong storylines.

With a Superstore spin-off in development, it's now time to imagine which characters could appear on both shows. It seems likely that Mateo (Nico Santos) would have a hand in Bo & Cheyenne considering how close he and Cheyenne are. Provided she continues to work at Cloud 9, several employees could make appearances on the show, and the store itself could remain a major set piece. However, seeing as Superstore is ending, it wouldn't make sense for Bo & Cheyenne to simply continue the flagship show's story. With that in mind, could Cheyenne and Bo move away from St. Louis and start a new life elsewhere? Perhaps the final episodes of Superstore will provide some clues.
