Supernatural creator Eric Kripke celebrates the final day of filming by looking back on the first scene they ever shot. For fifteen years, Supernatural has been a TV mainstay. It tells the story of brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) as they travel the country hunting demons, monsters, and other supernatural creatures. The list of threats they've gone up against is lengthy, and so is the number of times both brothers have died. Thanks to its extremely passionate fanbase, it once seemed like Supernatural would live forever. However, all good things must come to an end, and Supernatural is down to its final seven episodes.

Had 2020 gone to plan, Supernatural would have already ended by this point. However, the coronavirus pandemic disrupted production on the last episodes, forcing a prolonged delay. After months of uncertainty, Supernatural was given the okay to resume filming mere weeks ago, and this time, things have managed to progress without a hitch. Just last week, Padalecki and Ackles shared messages to the fans as they prepared to shoot the series finale. Now it seems like the finale is just about finished, and those involved with the show are signing off.

Kripke took to social media to provide some much-needed nostalgia on Supernatural's last day of production. He shared a GIF of Sam and Dean from the show's pilot and said "This was the first #Supernatural scene we shot. Today will be the last." Kripke shared his gratitude for the fans and concluded, "But it's only over when you say it is, #SPNFamily. In the words of Kim Manners (RIP): Kick It In The Ass."

This comes just under a month before Supernatural's final stretch begins. The CW announced back in August that Supernatural will return in early October before reaching its conclusion in November. It'll also get a series finale special, further hitting home just how big of a deal this finale is. Supernatural has been a vital part of the CW's (and before that, the WB's) lineup, and to realize it won't be around anymore is still startling. With fans as dedicated as Supernatural's, though, it's certain the show won't ever be forgotten.

It's interesting to take a look back at where things began with Kripke's message and see how far things have come. The end of Supernatural season 15 promises to show Sam and Dean trying to kill God, which is certainly a far cry from the show's origins of two brothers looking for their missing father. The show is best known for the emotions it packs in, and the remaining seven episodes look to feature just as much intensity as what came before. Hopefully, fans will feel satisfied with everything that has transpired by the time the credits on the finale run.
