With Supernatural set to end its 15 season run, the story of Sam and Dean will also come to a close. What started as a mission to find their father, took the brothers on a journey that included some rough situations. These situations include saving the world from the Apocalypse and fighting God in the final episodes. No matter what happens, fans will cherish the memories of this beloved show and remember the extraordinary journey of Sam and Dean.

Throughout the series, Sam and Dean proved to us why they are the best siblings ever. Despite living in a world filled with monsters, demons, and angels, they continued their family business of hunting down monsters and saving the world. But even though the brothers had some great sibling moments, they also had some of the worst.

Best: Playing With Fireworks

While this moment is only a dream from a childhood memory, every bit of it feels wholesome. In season 5, episode 16, "Dark Side of the Moon," Sam and Dean were shot and killed by the Roy brothers, so they were briefly in heaven. While in heaven, both brothers went through a series of dreams and distinct memories.

In one of Dean's first dreams, he appeared alongside a young Sam on the Fourth of July. Sam was hugging his brother and thanking him for getting the fireworks, despite orders from their dad. As they light up the fireworks, Dean was smiling and watching the beautiful night sky in what was one of the most heartfelt and happiest moments of Dean's life and that too of his brother.

Worst: Watching Each Other Die (Repeatedly)

Both Sam and Dean saw each other die several times throughout the series, and each death was more painful than the last. Sometimes, these deaths would even drive either Sam or Dean to the extreme.

The brothers' list of deaths is pretty long. Some of Sam's deaths include being stabbed by Jack, shot by the Roy brothers (along with Dean), and electrocuted by lightning. Many of Dean's deaths were in "Mystery Spot," along with being mauled by Hellhounds, overdosing on pills, and getting stabbed by Metatron. However, no matter the circumstances of their deaths, both brothers were always filled with emotional guilt and heartbroken for not protecting each other.

Best: The Christmas Exchange

Dean would do anything to make Sammy happy, as he was essentially the one raising him. In season 3, episode 8, "A Very Special Christmas," a flashback scene showed a young Dean and a young Sam on Christmas Day in 1991. Considering their father was absent, Dean tried his best to celebrate Christmas and to fulfill Sam's wishes, even if it meant stealing from other families.

Though Dean was eventually caught for what he did, Sam was grateful for the effort he put into setting the Christmas stuff up and ended up gifting the famous amulet to Dean. Since then, Dean wore the amulet for a good four seasons to remind him about his brother, Sam. Even though he no longer wears it, Dean still has possession of the amulet, as last seen in season 14. Nevertheless, fans know that the amulet signifies their brotherly love for each other.

Worst: Fighting About Dad's Death

Following the death of John Winchester, things grew intense between the brothers. In season 2, episode 2, "Everybody Loves a Clown," Sam tried to talk about John's death so they could process it together. However, Dean refused to talk about it and accused Sam of not dealing with his death.

Towards the end of the episode, Sam admitted that he could not deal with John's death, but he also believed that Dean was not handling it either. This episode leaves both brothers enraged, considering how they each had a different relationship with John.

Best: Brothers Singing Together

Supernatural is renowned for paying homage to some of the best rock music from the 60s to the 80s. Much of this is due to Dean's love for rock music. However, rock music also offered moments when the brothers bonded.

Sam and Dean had several moments where they are singing together. They sang "Night Moves" by Bob Seger, while going on a roundtrip in season 11, episode 4's, "Baby." They even had a more comical moment when singing "Silent Night" in season 3, episode 8, "A Very Special Christmas." However, it was in season 3, episode 16, "No Rest for the Wicked," that Sam and Dean jammed to "Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi. This moment has sentimental value for the brothers, as this would have been their last brotherly moment together before Dean's death.

Worst: Dean Confronts Sam For Not Looking For Him

Sam looks at an emotional Dean in Supernatural

In the season 7 finale, Dean goes missing after the brothers took down the Leviathans. It was not until the season 8 premiere that we learned Dean was in Purgatory for a whole year.

Though Dean eventually escaped Purgatory, his welcome back seemed different from most returns. Sam leaving the family business was the least of Dean's concerns, instead, it was the fact that Sam did not even attempt to find him or Castiel. This moment caused Dean to become heartbroken and left a stain on the brother's relationship.

Best: Dean Stops Sam From Sacrificing Himself

Though the circumstances of this moment were not good, this scene in season 8, episode 23, "Sacrifice," illustrated the emotional bond between Sam and Dean. With just moments before completing a ritual, Dean arrived just in time to stop Sam from getting himself killed. However, Sam confessed to Dean that he wanted to sacrifice himself to make up for all the times that he let Dean down.

At this moment, Dean made it clear that no matter what happens, he would not let that happen. This heartbreaking brotherly moment signified the forgiveness between the two brothers and the reassurance that they would always support each other, no matter the circumstances.

Worst: Dean Almost Tried To Kill Sam

In season 10, episode 3, "Soul Survivor," Dean taunted his brother around the bunker as Sam tried to get him back to his self. Dean even tried to kill Sam with an ax. To cut Dean some slack, he was a demon, which explained his odd behavior during the early parts of the season. Even Sam knew that it was the demon talking, not Dean.

Regardless, this moment was not the most brotherly between the pair. Particularly for Sam, this could have been a memory that would haunt him for a long time. For Dean, this was one thing that he will not forgive himself for.

Best: Leaving A Mark

In season 5, episode 22, "Swan Song," through a series of flashbacks, both Sam and Dean left a mark on the Impala with their initials, "S.W" and "D.W.," respectively. A Lucifer possessing Sam recalled a series of emotional brotherly moments between him and Dean that was enough to give Sam control over his body.

The brothers repeated this marking in season 12, episode 18, "The Memory Remains." They carved their initials on the bunker's table to leave their legacy as Winchesters. These moments defined their brotherly love for one another and showed that they would never leave each other.

Worst: When Sam Refused To Listen To Dean

Just like any siblings, there are moments when they do not pay attention to each other. Unfortunately, Sam and Dean are no exception to this scenario. In season 4, episode 21, "When the Levee Breaks," Dean continuously expressed his suspicions about Ruby and warned Sam not to trust her. Sam even fought Dean despite Dean trying to protect him from someone he barely knew.

Sam eventually chose Ruby over Dean and paid a heavy price for it. Not only did Ruby play him, but Dean admitted that he no longer trusted Sam for his actions. Nothing sounds worse from a sibling than "I told you so," in the most demeaning way possible.
