Entitled The Winchesters, the prequel series will explore the story of how John Winchester met Mary Campbell during their teenage demon-hunting years and fell in love. The Winchesters will also chronicle John's efforts to look into his father's past after returning from the Vietnam war and Mary's search for her missing father, leading them to meet various hunters and hunters-in-training and begin building a legacy of the most formidable hunters in the country.

Drake Rodger and Meg Donnelly are leading the cast of The Winchesters as John and Mary alongside Nida Khurshid, Jonathan Fleites, Demetria McKinney and Bianca Kajlich. Development on the Supernatural prequel series was first announced in mid-2021 when series vet Robbie Thompson signed on to write and executive produce the project alongside Jensen Ackles, who will reprise his role as Dean Winchester as the narrator, and his wife and former co-star Danneel Ackles. After nearly a year of development, The CW officially is moving forward with The Winchesters and has an exciting first look for Supernatural fans.
