Being a show that listens closely to its fans, Supernatural has gone a long way in ending plot holes that fans have pointed over the years. Season 15 closed out some like Adam Milligan’s status, the truth behind the pagan gods, and Sam and Dean’s incredible luck.

However, there are still many plot holes that still haven’t been resolved, and all of these contribute to the show not making sense where certain storylines and the characters’ actions are concerned. Since these points clash with the show’s continuity, as well as established logic, we’ve put together 10 plot holes that fans still have fresh in their minds.

Original Bobby's Status

It hasn’t been lost on fans that the version of Bobby Singer they have on the show now is from an alternate universe. Last we saw the original Bobby, he was seemingly about to be carted away by Hannah and the rest of the angels for defying her.

However, since Castiel has been shown to freely venture into Heaven since then, it hasn’t made sense how nobody has been able to tell where original Bobby is, especially since we’ve even seen Heaven’s prison as well. Since Bobby’s soul couldn’t have been destroyed either, it makes no sense how he could’ve simply vanished.

The Disappearance Of The Leviathans

Supernatural’s lazy excuse of Dick Roman’s death being used as the reason why the Leviathans disbanded hasn’t fooled fans, as Season 7’s plot had hinged upon these creatures using corn syrup in food to control people’s minds.

Even with Dick’s death, this plan should have been implemented, yet everyone went back to eating food without any adverse effects. We didn’t get an explanation over what happened to the contaminated food and how such a large number of Leviathans on Earth could have vanished to never come up again.

John And Mary's Non-Appearance In Heaven

The boys’ parents got their happy endings when Castiel revealed that they were together in Heaven as soulmates; however, the ease with which he found them opened up a plot hole. This would be the question of why no-one could find the two before.

In Season 5, Sam and Dean themselves had been in Heaven, but had been told that their parents had never been located by anyone, including angels. And yet, fans were left baffled over how John and Mary had reunited - that too in such easy fashion - after Mary’s death in Season 14.

All The Earlier Angel Visits To Earth

Castiel in Heaven in Supernatural

The angels have been shown to have done terrible things, and one of these has to be the plot hole they left over their visits to Earth. In Season 4, Castiel had made it clear that angels had returned to Earth after millennia, a point reiterated by how clueless angels were of humans.

However, they have since been shown to have frequent Earth numerous times in flashbacks, with these appearances being very close to present-day; even Castiel was seen on Earth in the early twentieth century. More so than that, a bunch of angels have also been confirmed to have remained on Earth for years prior to Season 4’s events as well.

Season 15 has done no favors to finishing off this plot hole, as a recent episode saw Leviathans working for Eve and calling her their queen. This clashes with Edgar’s claims in Season 7, where he called Eve “hardly one of us.”

As she’s meant to be the first monster ever made, it would make sense that Eve was the mother of Leviathans as well, but the Alpha Vampire’s claims that he was a descendant of the Leviathans makes Eve’s status even more perplexing. With Eve now supposedly in charge of Leviathans in Purgatory, this plot hole might never be resolved.

Sam And Dean's Time At The Grand Canyon

This has surprisingly stuck with the show for a long time and has even been used to poke fun at the series continuity. Fans will remember that Dean had mentioned back in Season 2 how he’d never seen the Grand Canyon, only for the boys to later discuss how John had taken them there when they were kids.

The reason why this is important to the plot is because of the fact that they hadn’t gone to the Grand Canyon was something that had been in Dean’s mind, as it contributed to how he felt they hadn’t enjoyed their childhoods. Since they apparently had been to the Grand Canyon, Dean should never have felt bad about it in the first place.

Lucifer Remaining Corrupted Even Without The Mark

The whole point of the Mark of Cain angle was that it was The Darkness being housed inside this seal that turned someone good into a crazy being. The first person to hold the Mark was confirmed to be Lucifer, with this the reason why he turned bad.

However, even after he was freed of the Mark, Lucifer has always been shown to be a devil through and through. Considering he hadn’t done anything evil before he got the Mark, that should confirm it was The Darkness that corrupted him, and yet Lucifer was a bad guy after the Mark went away as if that’s how he inherently was.

God's Control Over The Empty

Supernatural Empty Shadow

Exactly how God’s powers work is now a mystery as he’s been shown to be quite weak in Season 15. However, what’s always been uneven is his control over deceased angels and demons. As mentioned by The Shadow, only it has dominion over The Empty, and it claimed to be stronger than God and The Darkness.

Still, everything we’ve seen so far has defied this rule, as God has freely resurrected both angels and demons at will, with it never coming up how he could do this with The Shadow’s presence right there.

Souls Getting "Eaten" Even Though They Can't Be Destroyed

It was established that souls can only be utilized at the most, with their destruction something that not even Death could do. Fans have been quick to point out this being a plot hole, though, as we’ve seen souls be eaten.

You could give The Darkness a pass here since she’s supposed to be all-powerful, but even minor monsters like a Crocotta was seen devouring souls, with it being stated that they ate the souls whole. In Season 7, we also saw a ghost called Whitman Van Ness consume souls of ghosts, to the point where no trace of the soul remained.

Heaven's Existence Even Though Hardly Any Angels Are Left

A much talked about plot thread that’s left a gaping hole has been the continuation of Heaven, as this was said to be on the verge of collapsing due to a lack of angels. However, not only has Heaven not been an issue, we’ve seen more angels be killed even though only a handful were supposed to remain.

Season 15 hasn’t tackled this problem, with there being no warning signs that the universe is about to be destroyed, despite that having been set out as a major plot point earlier on. If this was indeed such a cataclysmic problem, then how has the world been going on, especially when there are even fewer angels now?
