Being a Supernatural fan means getting used to watching a few fixtures of the series, such as emotional brotherly moments, an exploration of Winchester trauma, constant necessary lies, and a continuous stream of death. There is a slew of emotional and important deaths throughout the fifteen seasons of the show, and characters often make their deaths more memorable with their dying words.
Whether these be the final words of a character coming with their last breath or simply being their last words before they are more unexpectedly killed, there are many last words from Supernatural characters that have stuck in the minds of fans.
Dean Winchester (At The Hands Of Metatron)
"I'm Proud Of Us."
Dean and Sam Winchester die time and time and time again throughout Supernatural's fifteen seasons, and one of the best deaths of the two, and arguably in the show, comes when Dean is murdered by Metatron, giving a heartfelt piece of dialogue to Sam before passing.
Doing his best to hold on after being stabbed with an angel blade, Dean manages to struggle out these words to his younger brother in what is undoubtedly one of the most heartfelt moments shared between the two. Of course, the death is also made better by the fact that Dean becomes a demon in an iconic moment soon after.
Azazel
"I Knew I Kept You Alive For Some Reason. Until Now, Anyway. I Couldn't Have Done It Without Your Pathetic, Self-Loathing, Self-Destructive Desire To Sacrifice Yourself For Your Family."
Azazel is one of the best villains in Supernatural to many fans, helping make the first two seasons so great while also helping to shape the main storylines of the Kripe-era. As far as deaths go, his at the hands of Dean and the Colt is one of the most satisfying.
These are not words he says while dying but rather his last words before death. After both lambasting and thanking Dean with this quote, Azazel gets gripped onto by John Winchester and shot with the Colt by Dean in brilliant fashion. What also makes these words so memorable is the truth in them.
Kevin Tran
"Hey, Do You Notice Anything A Little Bit Off About Dean Lately? Between You & Me I'm A Little Bit Worried About Him."
There are many characters in Supernatural who either die because of Sam and Dean or sacrifice themselves for Sam and Dean but do not deserve to die. Kevin Tran is one such character.
His death at the hands of Gadreel is a shocking and emotional moment made even sadder by these final words that come just before. He cares incredibly for Sam and Dean despite everything, despite the mess his life is in. He knows, loves, believes in, and trusts the boys, and in this instance, they - or rather Dean - let him down.
Missouri Moseley
"Tough."
Missouri Mosely was initially conceived to be the Bobby Singer-type character for the show, but in the end, she only had two appearances, memorable ones at that. In her second one in season 13's "Patience," she meets her end but faces it bravely.
Having already seen her death with her psychic powers, Missouri knew it was inevitable and so refused to give the Wraith the satisfaction of her screams or struggles, simply telling them "tough" seconds before she is murdered. A true badass right until the end.
Pamela Barnes
"I Can Feel What's Inside Of You. If You Think You Have Good Intentions, Think Again."
Pamela Barnes is arguably one of the show's most underrated characters, being memorable in her handful of appearances. She is another who died, in part, thanks to Sam and Dean, getting killed while helping them astral-project.
After bringing both Sam and Dean's bodies back, Pamela bled out, but not before harrowingly uttering these words to Sam. These, of course, reference Sam's demon blood addiction and his powers that would go on to be used to kill Lilith and bring Lucifer to the Earth.
Ellen Harvelle
"You Can Go Straight Back To Hell You Ugly B**ch."
Ellen and Jo Harvelle are two characters many fans would argue left the show too soon. They also have one of the best deaths in the entire show, with Ellen blowing herself and her daughter up along with hellhounds seconds after Jo died of hellhound wounds.
Knowing she was about to die, Ellen spoke directly to the hellhound sniffing at her head beside her, giving it this typically-Ellen line before her incredibly courageous death. The Harvelles were two of the best characters of the Kripke-era of Supernatural and arguably deserved a longer run in the show as close allies of the Winchesters.
Crowley (& Rowena MacLeod)
"Bye, Boys."
There are quite a few similarities between the mother-son duo of Crowley and Rowena. Both are beloved, both are brilliant dastardly villains, both have awesome redemption arcs, and both had sacrificial deaths in which their last words were the same.
"Bye, boys" pretty much encapsulates the redemption stories of each of them. Whereas "Hello, boys" was so often unwanted by the boys and a sign of trouble, "Bye boys" was wholly emotional for the Winchesters and audiences alike - particularly Crowley's since his death was permanent and the character never returned.
Bobby Singer
"Idjits."
One of the big complaints about season 7 was the death of Bobby, whom fans felt left the show too soon and had so much to offer. His death episode, though, "Death's Door," was fitting for one of Supernatural's best characters, as were his dying words.
Coming back into consciousness just for a moment, Bobby utters this iconic insult at his two sons before letting go and passing away. Of course, Bobby and an alternate version of Bobby would pop up on numerous occasions afterward. Still, this death is one of the best, most memorable, and most emotional in the show, in large part to this final moment between Bobby and the boys.
Castiel
"Goodbye, Dean."
"Despair" really lived up to its title in season 15, delivering the last Castiel death of the show and probably the most emotional of the lot as he confesses his love for Dean in a poignant monologue, ending with these painful words.
These words from Cas were spoken with tears, yet were full of happiness as he summons the Empty to kill him and claim him as well as Billie to save Dean one last time. The whole sequence is so moving yet so saddening. No Supernatural fan is likely to ever forget how emotional it was to watch this unfold the first time around, nor how angry they were that Cas was never to be seen again and scarcely mentioned in the final two episodes of the show.
Dean Winchester (In "Carry On")
"Goodbye, Sam."
The final episode of Supernatural is riddled with flaws, some of which were, of course, due to worldwide circumstances. However, there is no denying how utterly soul-destroying and emotionally devastating Dean's final death and goodbye with Sam is.
Holding on with everything he can as he bleeds out, Dean delivers his final lines to Sam, talking about their past, their journey together, and his love and pride in his brother. This whole exchange between Sam and Dean is unbelievable and entirely beautiful, touching on emotions that even Supernatural fans rarely felt. No matter anyone's opinion on the finale, this sequence, and Dean's final words before death, will always be remembered.
