As the end of Supernatural draws ever nearer, fans are looking back fondly on their favorite moments throughout the run of the show. For a lot of fans who were still in middle and high school when the show first came out, these fond memories often have a little bit of shipping to them.
Even for new fans, it’s easy to find good ships in Supernatural — the show has been on for so long and everyone has a little bit of chemistry. Of course, nobody has more chemistry than Dean Winchester and Castiel — infamously known by the ship name Destiel — and the actors who play them, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins (respectively), enjoy leaning into that chemistry, even behind the scenes.
An Intimate Moment
Some behind the scenes moments and photos capture a lot of joy and fun between actors as they take breaks on set, but this first image shows Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins mid-scene.
They’re both very talented actors who have spent a lot of time getting to know their characters. For Destiel shippers, seeing them sharing such an intimate moment while acting together as their characters is wonderful.
Just Goofing Around
Of course, not every moment on set is serious, especially not on the set of Supernatural. The three main actors — Jensen, Misha, and Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester — are known goofballs, and the gag reels for the show are infamous and have been all over the internet since the show first started.
Here, you can see Jensen sharing a laugh with Jared behind the scenes, as Misha tries to keep a straight face, just like Cas.
Dirty Dancing
Though their characters might never allow themselves such a fun moment together, this picture shows Jensen and Misha taking a second behind the scenes to enjoy a dance between a couple of friends. The two of them are shown here in something of a tango, just having fun with one another.
If only the writers for Supernatural would write in a scene like this for Dean and Cas, so they could enjoy some time together, too!

Filming a show must be an incredibly high-stress job. As we all know, actors seem to have a difficult time when they work so hard and put so much of themselves into their roles, so it’s always nice to know that they get to have some casual, light-hearted moments on set, too.
In this photo, Jensen and Misha look like they’re truly sharing a nice, comfortable laugh together, just having fun on set. Whatever they’re watching, it must be pretty amusing! It’d be nice if Dean and Cas could just have a nice laugh like this.
Even We Can’t Explain
Who’s to say exactly what’s going on in this photo? All fans know is that seeing Dean and Cas together where one of them is shirtless is fuel for the shipping fire.

Having Fun
Though Supernatural is a show with many serious moments and grave interactions, there are glimpses in between the action to see the humanity of the characters. This humor and joy comes directly from the performers, who give their all to each of their roles.
This joy can definitely be seen here, in this candid behind the scenes photo where Jared and Misha are laughing uncontrollably and Jensen watches Misha with a smile. This would be a perfect image to redraw as fanart.
Fans Of Themselves
If you can’t support yourself, who can you support? In this image, Misha Collins is seen wearing a Sam Winchester fan t-shirt, much to the amusement of Jensen Ackles.
Funnily enough, in the canon of Supernatural, there are actually fans of Dean and Sam — through a whole convoluted plotline to big to go into here — so, technically, Castiel could wear this shirt in canon. Destiel shippers would love to see a funny moment like this between Dean and Cas actually take place in the show!
A Relaxing Dinner
Though the only copies of this behind the scenes photo seem to be taken with a potato, the relaxed, friendly energy of the image still bleeds through. Dean and Cas — or, as they are in this moment where they stopped acting, Jensen and Misha — are seated at a charming dinner table, ready for what could, presumably, only be chaos.
In a perfect world, though, Destiel shippers like to look at this image and imagine Dean and Cas getting a nice dinner together - maybe even potentially on a date?
Large And In Charge
Jensen isn’t even acting here, although Misha Collins is. The cast of Supernatural often direct episodes of the show, as well, and it’s clear that Jensen is in charge here, directing Misha and Mark Sheppard, who plays Crowley.
