Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles (Sam and Dean Winchester), along with the rest of Supernatural's cast and crew, celebrate reaching 300 episodes. It's been a long, hard road for the Winchesters, which began all the way back in 2005 on the now defunct WB network. Supernatural was one of the only shows to survive the WB/UPN merger into The CW, and that has most definitely turned out to be a wise decision on the part of everyone involved. SPN, as its often abbreviated, boasts one of the most loyal fanbases on Earth, and recently began airing its 14th season.
To put how crazy the length of Supernatural's run is in perspective, only 21 scripted primetime series airing on a major U.S. broadcast network have made it to the 14 season mark. That's 21 out of literally millions of shows to hit the airwaves since the dawn of the medium. That number ties Supernatural with such luminaries as Dallas and Bonanza. Should Supernatural receive a season 15 order from The CW - and it's hard to imagine that not happening - that'll put it in an even more elite club of 12 shows, tying venerable programs like CSI and ER for longevity.
Outside of the achievement of lasting 14 seasons, Supernatural also celebrated another huge milestone this year, that being its 300th episode. While episode 300 won't actually make air until 2019, production on the installment has already been completed. Fans know this thanks to Holly Ollis, a PR executive for Supernatural and other shows produced by Warner Bros. TV. Yesterday, Ollis shared some photos from the wrap party for episode 300, a gathering attended by the series' entire cast and crew. Check her posts out below.
#SPNFamily: here’s a few pics from last nite’s #SPN300 celebration - an amazing evening w/an incredible group of people! Sending heartfelt thanks out to YOU, the fans - it’s your support these 14 seasons that’s brought the show to reach this amazing rare milestone! #Supernatural pic.twitter.com/qtVe1vLtTR— Holly Ollis (@Hollidayo) November 17, 2018
And here are a few more #SPN300 party pics! :) FYI that the guys were looking to the party photographer while stabbing the cake (vs. cutting lol). Also @JensenAckles took the stage for a couple of songs with show band #TheImpalas! #SPNFamily #Supernatural pic.twitter.com/avCgB9zi5o— Holly Ollis (@Hollidayo) November 17, 2018
Here’s another shot of that great group pose. And FYI that the Winchester initials were one of the main themes of the #SPN300 celebration! Besides the red carpet backdrop, they were also on the party’s invite & even on the wooden tables in the event! #Supernatural #SPNFamily pic.twitter.com/stOsDATi9Z— Holly Ollis (@Hollidayo) November 17, 2018
As one might imagine, stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles seem to have taken center stage in most of the photos, but also visible having fun are Misha Collins (Castiel), Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer), Alexander Calvert (Jack), Samantha Smith (Mary Winchester), and Ruth Connell (Rowena). Additionally, Ackles and Padalecki's wives (actresses Danneel Harris and Genevieve Cortese) showed up to the party, which is entirely appropriate, given that both have played roles on the series, and Padalecki actually met Cortese on the set during her run playing Ruby.
A bit conspicuous by his absence is actor Mark A. Sheppard, who portrayed the fan-favorite villain turned antihero Crowley for much of the series. Unfortunately, his exit at the end of season 12 got a bit nasty in public, so it's not too surprising he didn't show up. Still, he was a huge part of the SPN family, as was Jim Beaver (Bobby Singer), although one assumes the busy character actor had a scheduling conflict. While one might think it a bit unlikely that Supernatural will reach 400 episodes someday, time has proven that betting against the show isn't wise.
Supernatural season 14 airs Thursdays on The CW.
