DC Comics have released a stunning new cover for the reprint of Superman: Son of Kal-El #1! The new Superman series is all about Jonathan Kent taking on the Man of Steel mantle from his father. This development has been set up since Future State, which saw Jonathan as the future Superman. Since then, Jonathan has proven his worthiness as a hero even outshining Superman's abilities at times as he taps into newfound skills that Clark doesn't even know.

It's not often that comics fully sell out but Tom Taylor and John Timm's new series did just that as it completely sold out on launch. The sell-out marks the first reprint order from DC Comics during the Infinite Frontier era. Additionally, Future State had a couple of books that sold incredibly well and had reprints ordered. Superman: Son of Kal-El #1 went on sale July 27 and the reprinted issue is set for release on September 7 in comic book stores.

Obviously, a reprinted book requires new cover art to make it distinct from the first. Comic book artist Jock has drawn the official cover art for the reprinted Superman: Son of Kal-El #1 and it's absolutely jaw-dropping. It's one of the best comic book cover of the whole year, which is saying a lot as there have been many fantastic covers from a huge range of extra talented artists.

What makes a memorable cover art can depend on everyone's subjective idea of what looks great. However, when drawing superheroes, it's very important to get a good dramatic pose. While it's been made fun of in films like Deadpool and Black Widow, the right pose can help a superhero image really stand out. Seeing Superman flying with one arm in the air is one of the most well-known image related to comic book heroes. What makes this cover so good is that it puts Clark Kent's son in this classic pose, showing how he embraces his father's legacy. The way that Jock subtly implements the House of El crest into the clouds only makes it more stunning.

No matter if there are greater covers that readers have seen, it's an objectively bold cover that will remain in people's minds. Superman: Son of Kal-El has begun its run with a successful start and is sure to continue selling high amounts of issues. This is mainly because fans are interested in seeing Jonathan transition to becoming Superman. Naturally, a lot of people won't like Clark Kent not being Superman given how much of a staple he is. But it's exciting to see a new era of Superman stories arriving and Jonathan is that pathway to a fresh and exciting rebirth of the Man of Steel.
