These are dark days for Jimmy Olsen in the DC Universe. It seems like just yesterday fans were rejoicing at the arrival of Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #1, a new comic series starring everyone's favorite, criminally underrated photojournalist. But just three issues in, it's turned from a dream come true to an absolute nightmare--for Jimmy, most of all.

We'll let the fans decide for themselves how believable it is that somebody would want Jimmy Olsen dead--and by "want dead" we actually mean "already succeeded in assassinating him" back in Issue #3. Thankfully for both hero and audience, it was only an assassination decoy that took the bullets. But in our preview of Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #4, it looks like Jimmy's time hiding out in Gotham City has taken a toll. Being hunted and killed seemed as bad as it could get... but that was before we met Timmy Olsen.

To this point Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber have delivered a gleefully non-linear collection of short stories focused on a number of characters tied to Jimmy Olsen. But even given that setup, it won't be easy for readers to process the true levels of insufferable reached by Timmy Olsen--the alter ego Jimmy has cooked up to keep himself working while hiding out in Gotham. In Metropolis, it was shown that through clumsiness and unpredictability, Jimmy Olsen was keeping The Daily Planet afloat, thanks to his viral online clout.

So what else could be do in Gotham but channel his own version of rude, obnoxious, inane YouTube personality (think DC's version of Logan Paul) to even greater accolades and online success? Meet 'Timmy Olsen' in the preview pages below:

There's no question that Jimmy stands a better chance of solving his current crisis with Lois Lane in his corner. But from his frazzled state in these pages, the more important question may be how much of the old Jimmy is left once he's finally able to return home... assuming he'll be able to at all. At the very least, we can hope that the longer this story continues to put Jimmy through the ringer... the better the odds that Timmy Olsen won't survive beyond Gotham.
