There's a brand new animated Superman movie coming soon, Superman: Man of Tomorrow, and the first look image and cast are revealed. Though this isn't necessarily the first time DC's quintessential savior of the planet has appeared in animated form the new film, titled Superman: Man of Tomorrow, comes at the perfect time. As stay-at-home orders permeate the fabric of the world, many upcoming anticipated films have been delayed. However, just like always, Superman is here to save the day once again.

Normally whenever a Superman movie comes around it's met with much scrutiny, since Superman is undeniably one of the most popular superheroes of all time. But just because he's beloved doesn't necessarily mean his portrayal always goes off without a hitch. Criticism can come in many forms when discussing costumes, plot lines and even major details such as who gets to portray the duality of Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent. But when it comes to animated movies, it would appear that you can't go wrong. However, to ensure the upcoming Superman: Man of Tomorrow pleases its fan base, DC isn't taking any chances.

According to EW, the latest entry in the DC animated series of movies will feature quite a few big names. Right off the bat, most people may want to know who will play Superman and who will play Lex Luthor. DC has selected two talented actors who have definitely paid their dues for the nerd culture: Darren Criss (Glee) voices Superman and Zachary Quinto (Star Trek) voices Lex Luthor.

The story will focus on Clark Kent interning at The Daily Planet, all while discovering ways of how he can save Metropolis from imminent doom. And although putting Superman against Luthor would be a no brainer, there are other beloved DC characters coming along for the ride as well, featuring more great talent. For instance, American Horror Story: Hotel actress Alexandra Daddario will voice Lois Lane, Sons of Anarchy's Ryan Hurst will voice the powerful villain Parasite and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D actor Brett Dalton will voice intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo. Penned by The Death of Superman writer Tim Sheridan and directed by Chris Palmer, who has worked on Voltron: Legendary Defender as well as 2019's How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Superman: Man of Tomorrow will premiere this summer.

Whenever DC decides to do something with animation it's always fun to watch, especially since the cartoon versions of some of DC's most beloved characters have been around since the classic Super Friends debuted in the 1970s. Subsequently over the years, DC continues to captivate its audience with many animated offerings such as the Teen Titans franchise as well as the Young Justice series, which was met with critical acclaim. It looks like DC is prepared to give Superman's fans a reason to fall in love with him all over again during a time when we all need him the most.
