Wolé Parks, who plays Steel, in the Arrowverse, addresses renewal chances for Superman & Lois season 4. The CW's Arrowverse is slowly dwindling down in light of Nexstar's 2022 acquisition of the network. In 2022, several Arrowverse dramas were canceled ahead of the new regime coming in with new plans for The CW. With The Flash season 9 set to be its last season, the only other returning DC TV drama this year will be Superman & Lois, which is going into season 3. While not taking place on Earth-Prime, Superman & Lois remains adjacently connected to the Arrowverse by existing in an alternative world.

Screen Rant recently interviewed Parks, who has been one of Superman & Lois' main stars since season 1. After James Gunn's comments about Superman & Lois' future with The CW, Parks was asked what the chances are for a season 4 renewal. As The CW has yet to premiere the new season, Superman & Lois' fate has yet to be decided. However, Parks, who plays John Henry Irons, is optimistic about Superman & Lois season 4, stating the following:

I'm not even trying to joke around. Literally, we know as much as you guys know. That is literally how fluid it is right now. Do I think we're going to get another season? Yes, if I've had to put money on it, I do think we get one more season at least. But I don't know; again, it's out of my control. That's something where I just have to, as a person, just accept that life is very fluid. I know that I'll be okay regardless and even if this somehow ends up being the last season, which I don't think it is, but if it does, I'm just happy to have been a part of this process. We have amazing fans, we truly do, and they're great with the show. But for me, you guys don't get to see the day-to-day of us working together. I was literally on set with a bunch of people yesterday; we had a big family scene - I remember it was me, Tyler [Hoechlin], and Bitsie [Tulloch] doing a scene [where] I just told them in a moment of self-reflection, saying, 'Guys, I'm just so thankful to get to work with you guys. Because you guys make this so much fun.' People don't know that it's a lot to shoot a show in a different country, and it throws it off a little bit. But the friendships I've built on the show, I'm so happy for them. Todd [Helbing] is amazing, and the writers, it's been a really good family unit to work with, and I'm really happy about that.

According to The CW's official Superman & Lois season 3 synopsis, the new season will take place a few weeks after the season 2 finale. One of the biggest changes for the Arrowverse drama will be the arrival of Michael Bishop, who is taking over as Jonathan Kent after Jordan Elsass' exit in 2022. The latest Superman & Lois season 3 trailer includes a taste of Bishop's take on Jonathan. However, Bishop isn't the only new cast member for the upcoming season.

Two major DC villains will be making their Superman & Lois debut in season 3. One of them is Bruno Mannheim, played by Chad Coleman, who will be heavily tied to Steel's storyline. After learning that Steel's doppelganger was killed by Bruno on this Earth, John will be going after Bruno. Michael Cudlitz is also coming onboard Superman & Lois season 3 as the latest live-action incarnation of Lex Luthor.

Recent reports have indicated that The CW's amount of scripted shows will be lower than ever for the 2023-2024 TV season. With the network reportedly only picking up two more shows after All-American was renewed for season 6, time will tell if Superman & Lois season 4 will be one of them. Since the new regime behind The CW is still a little unpredictable, it's hard to tell what Superman & Lois' actual chances are for another season pick-up. It will likely come down to the ratings and also financial discussions that will determine if Superman & Lois will be back for season 4.
