The CW has released the first official trailer for Superman & Lois season 3, which will premiere on Tuesday, March 14. As 2023 has officially kicked off, the Arrowverse is almost back on The CW. While there will be fewer shows this year, there are still plenty DC TV adventures to look forward to. One of them is Superman & Lois season 3, which will continue the adventures of the Lane-Kent family. After being off the air for almost a year, the drama series is less than two months away from its premiere. As revealed in the Superman & Lois season 2 finale, the show actually takes place on an alternative Arrowverse Earth in the Greg Berlanti-produced multiverse.
As the Arrowverse shows get closer to premiering, The CW (via TV Promos) has released the first official Superman & Lois season 3 trailer. While it's brief, it gives fans a glimpse of what is to come this season in Smallville.
Superman & Lois season 3 will not be the only DC TV show to air on Tuesdays as of this year. Starting on March 14, Gotham Knights season 1 will be airing right after the popular Arrowverse series. Similar to Superman & Lois, Gotham Knights doesn't take place on Earth-Prime.
Everything Revealed In The Superman & Lois Season 3 Trailer
The CW has confirmed that Superman & Lois season 3 picks up weeks after the season 2 finale, where Clark took on Ally Allston, a.k.a. Parasite. One of the big centerpieces of the Superman & Lois season 3 trailer is the reveal that Lois may or may not be pregnant again. However, viewers will have to tune in for the season premiere to find out if Lois and Clark truly are getting another kid or not. On top of that, it doesn't take long before Lois is shown to be in danger, as she goes missing, and it's up to Superman to find her.
While Superman & Lois primarily takes place in Smallville, it appears season 3 will also take the show back to Metropolis for a bit. At several points, Superman can be spotted flying through the iconic DC location, which includes a quick shot of the Daily Planet. However, whatever is causing trouble for the Man of Steel seems also to be putting Lois in grave danger. Toward the end of the footage, the Daily Planet globe can be seen starting to shatter behind Lois. The Superman & Lois season 3 trailer also gives the first look at Michael Bishop as the new Jonathan Kent.
Will Superman & Lois End After Season 3?
While there is a lot in store for Superman & Lois season 3, the bigger mystery is whether it will end this year or get renewed for season 4. In previous years, it would have seemed like a safe bet, but after Nexstar's 75% acquisition of The CW in 2022, the Arrowverse drama may not be as secure. The new owners behind The CW have made it clear that they are shifting their demographics as well as the type of content they produce. The CW's new entertainment president has also expressed uncertainty if DC TV will even be part of their strategy in the next season. The network is reportedly looking at only picking up less than five original scripted shows for The CW's 2023 slate. So far, All-American is the only drama to have scored another season renewal for next year. For now, fans can look forward to the Superman & Lois season 3 premiere on March 14 at its regular 8 PM time slot.
