Even though Superman & Lois season 3 already boasts two major DC Comics villains, there's a chance a third, unannounced character will factor heavily into the battles to come. It's been confirmed that Superman & Lois season 3 will see Superman contend with both Lex Luthor and Bruno Mannheim. But whether or not one or the other is the season's main antagonist has yet to be confirmed, and may not be become clear until several episodes have aired.

Based on the setup provided by the season 2 finale, Chad Coleman's Bruno Mannheim and Intergang are on the cusp of becoming the next threat to Superman & Lois' main characters. But he won't be the only problem Clark and Lois will have to be concerned with; The Walking Dead's Michael Cudlitz has been cast as a new version of Lex Luthor. With two noteworthy members of Superman's rogues' gallery (one of which being his biggest villain of all time) on hand, Clark is primed to have his hands full when The CW series returns.

Superman & Lois Season 3 Is Missing A Villain That Can Fight Superman

With Bruno Mannheim and Lex Luthor on the horizon, Superman & Lois has two strong candidates for season 3's main villain. However, it's worth noting that neither of them poses a significant, physical threat to Tyler Hoechlin's Superman, as both have reputations as criminal masterminds. While they do have a history of weaponizing alien tech strong enough to hurt Superman, it's hard to imagine either character standing up to Clark across multiple episodes in the same way that Ally Allston and Tal-Rho could in the show's previous seasons. For that reason, it may be that Superman & Lois season 3 is hiding an additional character who has the raw power needed to match up against the Man of Steel.

Bruno and Lex sharing the spotlight with a third villain would be consistent with Superman & Lois' storytelling approach. The show has a tendency to use misdirects and surprise twists in its first few episodes to keeps viewers guessing as to who the villain really is. With this in mind, it's a real possibility that Clark could have three adversaries gunning for him in season 3. The third party could be a secret ally to Lex, Bruno, or both. Unlike the two of them, this person may have actual super powers.

Who Superman & Lois Season 3's Third Villain Could Be

The decision to use characters like Bruno Mannheim and Parasite is indicative of Superman & Lois' interest in under-the-radar DC villains. If Superman & Lois season 3 does indeed include a mystery antagonist, the character chosen for this role may be someone unexpected. Of those who can fight Superman physically, both the alien warlord known as Mongul and Metallo would easily meet that criteria. In the comics, Mannheim was secretly being supplied with weapons by Darkseid, whereas the TV version of the story could see him as a pawn of Mongul instead. As for Metallo, the villain with a Kryptonite heart, he could work as a product of Lex's scientific experiments.
