Superman & Lois is headed into its second season of Kal-El's adventures and is finally completely fixing an issue that the Arrowverse's Superman has long dealt with. Tyler Hoechlin first debuted as the Man of Steel on Supergirl in 2016, becoming a recurring supporting character on the show. Following the CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, Hoechlin would don the cape again for Superman & Lois, which debuted in February 2021.

With Hoechlin's Superman being more of a guest star than a central player on Supergirl and various Arrowverse crossovers up to that point, Superman & Lois is where he's really gotten to fully flesh out his Kal-El. In addition to the show's strong storytelling and big-screen-worthy action scenes, Superman & Lois has also remedied a bothersome issue that the Arrowverse's Superman has faced for some time. Namely, the problems the Arrowverse has had in getting the Last Son of Krypton's suit just right.

A set photo from Superman & Lois season 2 that appeared on Twitter shows the Superman suit has undergone some subtle but noticeable tweaks from season one, and these changes are the latest improvements Hoechlin's suit has been given. The suit on Supergirl and Arrowverse crossovers included a set of shoulder straps connecting his red cape to his back. While this might have been intended to give a distinct look to Hoechlin's Superman, the straps ended up being a distracting component of it. Superman & Lois subsequently gave Clark Kent a huge suit upgrade, which wisely dispensed with the shoulder straps. However, while the new suit was overall excellent, it still had a slight issue with Superman's famous S-shield, mostly with his emblem being a bit too small for his chest.

The image from the set of season 2 shows the S-shield with better placement and proportionality to the chest of the outfit. While the primary Superman & Lois suit was overall very well-designed, following on a briefly seen Max Fleischer version, the minor problem with the S-shield was a reminder that Clark's suit on the Arrowverse hadn't quite stuck the landing yet. With that no longer an issue, Superman and Lois has fully shed any shortcomings in the Kryptonian hero's attire for the show.

With Superman & Lois, Hoechlin's Clark Kent is now a far more central pillar to the Arrowverse than ever. The show also gives Clark challenges from both sides of being a hero, battling Superman villains from the comics like Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner), along with raising two teenage sons, Jon and Jordan (Jordan Elsass and Alex Garfin), the latter also exhibiting some Kryptonian powers. Superman's iconic suit, meanwhile, is an essential element of who he is and what he stands for, and while getting it just right has been an issue for the Arrowverse, Superman & Lois looks to have bestowed him with the most refined version of the classic Man of Steel suit Hoechlin's Superman has worn yet.
