While most of the shows in the Arrowverse are devoted to the "super" aspects of their superheroes, Superman & Lois has differentiated itself from the pack. The series still has Superman saving the day, but it places a firm focus on the Kent family. The dynamics between Lois, Clark, and their two sons are what is truly making the show stand out.

While the series is definitely a drama in the post-Crisis world of the Arrowverse, plenty of the moments between the characters are lighthearted, even demonstrating a slice of life amongst the Kents. Some of the best moments in the series (so far) are the most wholesome as the family leans on and supports one another, and encourages each other to do the right thing.

Picking A Paint Color

When Lois and Clark make the decision to move their entire family to Smallville, not everyone is excited about the change. That doesn't mean the family can't bond over the changes in their life though.

Lois picks several colors of paint so that they can make the Kent house their own. With swatches on the walls, she wants the boys and Clark to help pick the color. When no one seems as interested as her, however, the discussion devolves into them using paint brushes to lob paint at one another. It's one of the lightest moments in the entire show so far.

Jonathan Is Jordan's Wingman

Jordan and Jonathan talk to Sarah in the Superman & Lois pilot.

Jonathan and Jordan are very different people. While Jordan has intense social anxiety, Jonathan finds himself at ease around others. As a result, Jonathan spends a lot of time talking his twin brother up to Sarah Cushing in the early episodes.

Though Sarah makes it clear that she's only comfortable being friends with Jordan right now, Jonathan doesn't hesitate to support his brother every time he's forced to miss out on spending time with Sarah. He might not be able to tell Sarah about his brother's Kryptonian abilities, but he can make sure that his brother doesn't lose his closest friends. That's some brotherly love.

"My Mom Made It For Me."

While the rest of the Kent family doesn't feature in this particular scene from the pilot episode, it does show just how much Clark loves his mother. When Clark, in an early Superman suit in flashback, saves a young kid, the boy compliments his outfit.

Clark beams when he reveals, "My mom made it for me." It's an adorable moment that only endears him to the audience more.

Jordan Helps Escort Jonathan From The Festival

When Jonathan has a rough day, he decides to indulge in a common pastime for angry fictional teenagers: drinking at a town event. Jonathan's girlfriend from Metropolis breaks up with him just as they are supposed to go to Smallville's Harvest Festival with Jordan and Sarah. It hits him hard.

Despite Jonathan drinking and making fun of his brother, Jordan takes it in stride. He doesn't hesitate to offer to help his brother get some food and get hope, despite his feelings being hurt. It's a little more angst-filled than some of the show's other wholesome family scenes, but it demonstrates that it's not just Jonathan taking care of Jordan. The reverse is true for the twins as well.

Kyle Makes The Cushing Girls Pancakes

While the Kents seem to bounce back from family drama very quickly, that's not always the case for the Cushings. The audience might have expected the tension to come from Lana Lang since she was Clark's first love, but that's not the case. Lana and Kyle struggle to connect after everything their family and their town has gone through.

When Kyle makes an effort to reconnect with his family again though, it leads to this cute breakfast scene. Much to Lana's surprise when she gets up one morning, Sarah and Sophie are getting shaped pancakes courtesy of Kyle. The entire family has a good time together without fighting about Lana's job, Sarah's therapy sessions, or Kyle's insecurities. It's a nice reprieve for them.

Clark Reprimands Jordan On The Field

Clark talks with Jordan as his dad and coach in Superman and Lois

This might be an angsty moment on the football field, but it's also a moment that shows Clark Kent just being a dad instead of being someone else's superhero.

Jordan starts to get very angry when Smallville plays against Metropolis in a game. The guys on the Metropolis team are the same ones who used to bully him. While he's able to control his powers for most of the game, he's not able to reign in his snide remarks. Clark calls him on his bad behavior, and it's clear that he means business. When he does, Jordan immediately turns his behavior around.

Lois And Clark At The Cushing Family Barbecue

The romance between Lois and Clark is an iconic part of Superman's comic book story. Their roles as parents aren't explored quite as much. Here, however, the two present a united front to their sons and in social situations.

When the two bring their kids to the Cushing house, it's because Lana invites them for a barbecue. It turns out that most of Smallville is there, and there's plenty of tension between the two of them and Kyle. It takes all of 30 seconds for Lois and Clark to agree just how long the family is staying at the barbecue.

Lois And Jonathan Are Extraordinary

Jordan developing super powers means there's a shift in the dynamic for the family. Jonathan consistently feels left out, and he wants to be able to protect his family in the same way Clark and Jonathan can. This leads to a scary moment for Lois when he does end up in danger, but it also leads to a frank discussion between mother and son.

Lois and Jonathan decide that in this super family, they might be humans, but they aren't just ordinary. Instead, they call themselves extraordinary, and it's a great bonding moment for them, despite the tragic backstory Lois reveals to her son along the way.

Kyle Plays The Guitar For Sarah

Kyle plays the guitar in Superman & Lois S1E09

Sarah's social anxiety isn't as extreme as Jordan's, but she does have an extreme case of stage fright. Jordan helps her through it by accompanying her on piano while she sings in rehearsals for the school talent show. Kryptonite making him sick means he has to skip out on the actual show, leaving Sarah too nervous to perform.

Luckily, Sarah's father is there to accompany her on the guitar before she can run off the stage. Sarah, who has grown tired of her father breaking promises to her, is reminded of the man he used to be in the heartwarming sequence.

The Kent Family Teasing Jordan About Sarah

What teenager hasn't been teased by a family member about a potential crush? Jonathan might be Jordan's wingman as often as possible, but he's not above teasing his brother either. He chooses to do it as the family is all getting ready to leave for work and school in the middle of the first season.

Clark and Lois both disagree when Jordan asserts that he and Sarah are just friends. None of the teasing is malicious or meant to make Jordan uncomfortable. It's a sweet moment to start the Kent family' day.
