Superman & Lois premiered on The CW in February after months of production delays due to the pandemic and increased health and safety measures that had to be put in place. The series, the seventh in the Arrowverse, follows the titular characters as they move from the bustling Metropolis to a quieter life in Smallville. Superman & Lois will be back in its Tuesday night time slot on May 18, but there is a lot of ground left to cover and several more episodes to go before the season 1 finale finally airs.

The last audiences saw of Superman and Lois, the latter was approached by another Earth’s Lex Luthor in a bid to help the intrepid reporter take down Morgan Edge, the shady businessman who was experimenting with X-Kryptonite. Meanwhile, Jordan and Jonathan, Lois and Clark’s twin teen sons, were attacked by Tag, a former classmate with previously uncontrollable powers. There was also that bombshell that Lex and Lois were a couple on his planet.

The superhero series aired five episodes of its first season before taking a break at the end of March, replaced for several weeks with new episodes of Supergirl. Superman & Lois originally had a 13-episode season 1 order, which is typical of shows scheduled for midseason. However, The CW confirmed the series would be getting an additional two episodes shortly after its premiere, bringing Superman & Lois’ season 1 episode count to 15. That leaves ten episodes to go before the series wraps up its freshman season. However, because of the ongoing scheduling shifts that have been happening over the last year, it hasn’t been confirmed when Superman & Lois will air its season 1 finale.

If the remaining ten episodes air uninterrupted, then fans can expect the season finale to air on July 20, 2021. But, a press release from The CW in April lists a new episode of Superman & Lois that is scheduled to air on Tuesday, August 10, two weeks before Supergirl is set to return to air the first of its final 13 episodes. With that in mind, it’s possible Superman & Lois will be taking a couple of breaks in between the final stretch of season 1 episodes. That’s pretty normal, especially considering that a brief production hiccup related to COVID delayed the Arrowverse series early on in the season’s filming. It could also be that the season 1 finale is being held for August 17, which would then seamlessly lead into Supergirl season 6’s eighth episode the following week on August 24.

That leaves Superman & Lois airing throughout the summer before wrapping its first season ahead of the fall line-up. The series has already been renewed for season 2, so no matter when the season 1 finale airs, fans can rest assured that it won’t be ending on a cliffhanger that won’t ever be resolved. With ten episodes left in season 1, there’s still Lex’s full backstory to explore, Morgan Edge to take down, and teen angst to test Clark’s patience. Just another day in the life of Superman.
