Crisis on Infinite Earths has once again changed the Arrowverse iteration of Superman ahead of his spinoff series. Tyler Hoechlin is the latest actor to portray Clark Kent in live-action, and 2021 is going to be a step-up for his edition of the character. After having been a supporting guest player for years on Supergirl, Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane) are officially set to headline their own show, Superman & Lois. However, this Superman project will be vastly different from the DCEU, Smallvilleand more. This time, the Arrowverse spinoff will follow Lois and Clark in new territory: parenthood.

As revealed in the Elseworlds crossover, Lois and Clark told Kara that they were expecting their first child together. It wasn't difficult to figure out that this was none other than Jon Kent himself. However, as Superman & Lois got put into development ahead of Crisis on Infinite Earths, some changes had to be done. While Earth-38 was destroyed, the Supergirl and Superman & Lois characters ended up getting moved over to the newly created Earth-Prime with the rest of the Arrowverse. However, while Oliver Queen managed to recreate the Multiverse, he also rebooted the timeline and created a new history for Earth-Prime.

In the final part of Crisis on Infinite Earths, Lois reveals to the audience that in this continuty, they actually have two teenage boys, Jon and Jordan Kent. Rather than just having baby Jon pre-Crisis, Lois and Clark now have two kids to raise which makes things more interesting. However, a new trailer for Superman & Lois has revealed yet another Crisis change for Arrowverse's Superman. In the new teaser promo, which is narrated by Clark, Superman displays one of his most famous super-powers - heat vision - revealing how Crisis on Infinite Earths has altered that ability. While the Arrowverse's Supergirl and Superman have always been depicted as having blue heat vision, for some unexplained reason Clark now has the traditional red heat vision instead.

In post-Crisis for Supergirl season 5, Kara has used her heat vision, showing the audience that her version of the power is still blue, meaning it is only her cousin's ability that has changed, instead of the power itself being altered. This all said, it's not entirely surprising that this change - along with many others - has occurred, as the timing is perfect to alter things in order to create the perfect set up for Superman & Lois.

Superman will be increasingly in the spotlight of the Arrowverse in the future, as other flagship series are coming to an end. While The Flash remains the franchise's biggest show, the Scarlet Speedster might be ending his run within the next 3 years. If Superman & Lois is going to become the new main focus of the Arrowverse, it makes sense that the creators have taken another look at the Man of Steel and looked at every detail they would like to change - as doing so later when more attention is on the character could have proved an unpopular decision, especially without an event like Crisis to justify it. With two teenage boys instead of a baby son, a new suit, and now an altered super-power, it wouldn't be shocking if more changes are in store for Superman in the Arrowverse.
