A new fan theory postulates that Ally Allston (Rya Kihlstedt) is really Granny Goodness in Superman & Lois. Introduced as the leader of a cult called the Inverse Method, Ally is in a position to be the main villain for Lois’ season 2 story. Based on her name, it appears Ally is the Arrowverse’s interpretation of Alexandra Allston, a lesser-known version of Parasite in the DC Universe.

Despite the DC Comics link, some are connecting Ally to a different villain – namely, Granny Goodness. In contrast to what her name may imply, Granny Goodness is a ruthless and evil woman who turns youths into loyal, hardened warriors who serve the every whim of the all-powerful Darkseid. As one of Darkseid’s closest allies, Granny Goodness is a key character in several stories where he serves as the main antagonist. So far, she’s only appeared in live-action once, which happened in Smallville season 10. She hasn’t been mentioned in the Arrowverse yet, but it’s likely that she’d appear if one of its shows were to make use of Darkseid.

Some are theorizing that the Arrowverse quietly introduced Granny Goodness when it brought in Ally Allston. Her appearance, personality, and ability to skillfully manipulate people like Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan) into following her has led to some major Granny Goodness comparisons. Ally turning out to be someone like Granny Goodness would allow her to be a threat to more than just Lois’ career and give her a role in Superman’s story as well. It could also provide a way for her cult to fit into season 2’s overarching story with Bizarro and the mysterious Dr. Faulker. For the time being, it’s not clear if or when Ally will become a part of this plotline.

Superman Lois Season 2 Ally Allston

Of course, a common argument against the Granny Goodness theory is that Ally seems to be the Arrowverse’s Parasite instead. In addition to the connection between their names, Superman & Lois alluded to her DC Comics ties when Lois called her a “parasite”. But with the show’s tracking record, Ally being linked to Parasite doesn’t rule out the possibility of her being a different DC Comics villain. In season 1, the Arrowverse morphed a DC crime boss into the secret brother of Superman by revealing that Morgan Edge was secretly Tal-Rho. The show also made some obvious Doomsday teases in the first few episodes of season 2, only for viewers to find out that Superman & Lois was actually setting up Bizarro all along.

Looking at what the series has done with its other villains, Superman & Lois using her name as a misdirect is certainly plausible, but whether or not the Arrowverse will go as far as revealing her to be Granny Goodness remains to be seen. If it did move in this direction, it would enable the series to lay the groundwork for Darkseid to eventually appear, possibly as the villain of a future Arrowverse crossover.
