Warning! Spoilers for Justice League: Last Ride #6 by DC Comics below

The Justice League and Superman are in one of the toughest battles they've ever been a part of, and things aren't about to get easier for them. In a fight against a Brainiac-controlled Cyborg Superman, the actual Superman was just injured after the villain pulled out a new weapon called the Kryptoknife, which appears to be the perfect tool to kill the superhero with.

Justice League: Last Ride has showcased the adventures of the superteam's latest fight against a wave of powerful villains and their forces. In the story, the team became fractured after Batman and Superman became bitter and angry with one another following Maritan Manhunter's death, but was brought back together after learning Lobo was responsible for killing the New Gods. He was put under the protection of the Green Lantern Corps, who sought the Justice League's help. They came up with the plan to hide the bounty hunter before he went on trial for his crimes. The Justice League opted to take him to the abandoned planet of Apokolips. However, by doing so, the group walked right into Darkseid's latest ambush.

In Justice League: Last Ride #6 by Chip Zdarsky, Miguel Mendonca, Enrica Angiolini, and Andworld Design, the Justice League takes on waves of enemies on Apokolips, led by the Brainiac-controlled Cyborg Superman. The mind-controlled villain, who has his own army of Manhunters, pulls out a pair of blades and manages to cut Superman and make him bleed. The Man of Steel falls to the ground as a group of Manhunters latch onto him. That's when Cyborg Superman shows off the weapons, the Kryptoknives, revealing that when he merged with Brainiac he discovered where to find Kryptonite while knowing how to use it as a weapon. Considering Kryptonite is Superman's biggest weakness, it's bad news for the hero.

Braniac Kryptonite Weapon

Brainiac/Cyborg Superman is about to kill Superman with one of the Kryptonite blades, but Wonder Woman arrives with Jon Stewart's Green Lantern and knocks the villain to the ground. Unfortunately for the Justice League, Darkseid would emerge, bringing in another near-unstoppable villain to take down. However, when all chances at victory seems lost, Martian Manhunter makes a surprise reappearance and gives the team hope.

Justice League: Last Ride is an action-packed series full of emotional highs and lows. Seeing Superman nearly die at the hands of the Cyborg Superman/Brainiac's newest Kryptonite weapons certainly is one of its most tense moments. While Superman managed to escape the Kryptoknives this time, Cyborg Superman/Brainiac is still very much alive and wields the powerful weapons. So, it's likely not the last time blood will be drawn from the Man of Steel in the series. Justice League: Last Ride #6 is in comic book stores now.
