Henry Cavill's Superman joins several DCU heroes on a new banner. After being absent from the franchise since 2017, Cavill made his triumphant return as Superman during Black Adam's post-credits scene to confront Dwayne Johnson's antihero. The scene is clearly only a small taste of what's to come, though it's unclear exactly what the future holds for Cavill's Superman amidst the recent restructuring at Warner Bros. Discovery which saw James Gunn and Peter Safran appointed as co-heads of the rebranded DC Studios.

Now, Cavill's Superman has officially rejoined the pantheon of DC heroes on a new banner displayed at Comic Con Experience 2022 in Brazil. Per Collider, the banner shows Cavill's Kryptonian superhero pictured alongside Jason Momoa's Aquaman, Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam, Robert Pattinson's Batman, and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. Why DC Advertising With Cavill's Superman Is Significant

Since being absent from the DC franchise since 2017, it was beginning to look like Cavill's Superman might never return. However, thanks to Johnson's persistence behind the scenes, Cavill made his return during Black Adam's post-credit scene, which was the result of a last-minute decision rather than careful planning. Now, DC advertising with Cavill's Superman indicates he is officially back and an important part of the franchise's long-term plans.

On the new banner, Cavill's Superman is pictured alongside several DC stalwarts with their own successful sub-franchises. Momoa gave the DCU its first billion-dollar movie with Aquaman and is returning for a sequel, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. Gadot has starred in two Wonder Woman movies, the first a lot more successful than the sequel, with Wonder Woman 3 on the way. Pattinson made his successful debut in The Batman and is returning for a sequel. Johnson is also expected to return in a likely Black Adam 2 and is aiming to clash with Cavill's Superman at some point in the future. With all these characters set for bright futures in the franchise, the inclusion of Cavill sends a clear message about what appears to be ahead for him.

When Will DC Announce Cavill's Next Superman Appearance?

With the DCU only recently being restructured with Gunn and Safran as co-heads, it's unlikely that Cavill's next Superman appearance will be announced during CCXP 2022, which runs from November 30 to December 4. Gunn and Safran are currently hammering out a 10-year plan for the DCU which they intend to reveal to Warner Bros. Discovery in early 2023, with a public reveal likely coming shortly thereafter. In the meantime, Cavill's Superman rejoining the other DCU heroes on the new banner is a positive sign that he will be an important part of the franchise's long-term plans.
