Superman is no stranger to competing against his fellow heroes in races to determine who's fastest in the DC Universe. Most famously, Kal-El's Superman has raced against The Flash numerous times, with each hero being named winner in different versions of the test of speed - although the red speedster has won most of their races. In a brand-new preview for Superman: Son of Kal-El #17 by Tom Taylor, Cian Tormey, Ruairi Coleman, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Dave Sharpe from DC Comics, Superman challenges his son Jon to a race after returning to Earth from Warworld. The pair's race starts on top of a building on Earth as they race to the planet Vega 3. After racing through space, Jon beats his father to the planet, telling him as much as his father lands after him.

Jon Kent's Superman Really Is Faster Than Kal-El

Jon Kent's Superman being the winner of his race with his father isn't a fluke or Kal-El giving his son the victory, as the main Superman in the DC Universe admits that he "legitimately" beat him and is the faster hero. Jon jokingly makes excuses for his father, asking him if he "got lost" on his way to Vega 3. However, Jon Kent proves he is faster than Superman, as the race winner speeds past his father quite easily.

Jon Kent proved to be more than deserving of the mantle of Superman during his father's absence on Warworld, as he protected Metropolis and the world in a way that would make Kal-El proud. So, Jon besting his father in a race proves that he might be an even better and more powerful Superman than him someday, as outspeeding the original Man of Steel is quite the feat. Kent is the surprising but worthy winner of the race with Superman.
