Warning! Spoilers ahead for Justice League Infinity #2!

In Justice League Infinity #2, Superman's greatest enemy, Doomsday, is revealed to be a hero. This revelation occurs after Superman finds himself on an alternate Earth. The name of which Earth he is on remains to be seen, but it's Ultraman's homeworld. His homeworld is technologically more advanced than Superman's Earth but is pulled back thanks to them being trapped in a dystopic fascist regime.

A twisted creation from Krypton's distant past, Doomsday is best known for being the only villain to have ever killed Superman. Almost always, Doomsday is shown to be a ruthless killing machine with no conscience. His sole purpose is to destroy Superman and everything that stands in his way, nothing more or less. Doomsday is incredibly powerful and is almost unkillable.

In Justice League Infinity #2 by J.M. DeMatteis, James Tucker, and Ethen Beavers, Superman meets a heroic version of Doomsday. This alternate version of Doomsday comes from Overman's world. The two characters have their roles reversed as Doomsday, somehow, is a hero and Superman's doppelgänger is a villain. This is a shocking revelation to both Superman and readers. Especially, because of his past inability to shown any form of consciousness. But here, clearly, Doomsday is able to properly think and has chosen a pathway of heroism.

The idea that Doomsday has control of himself and isn't bad is quite surreal. In this reality, he is a part of the freedom fighters who are working to take down Vandal Savage and Overman's Nazi regime. But the extremely firm grasp that the Nazis have on their Earth is evidently strong. Meaning that they need a roster of the universe's finest heroes to try and take them down. Doomsday is shown to be teammates with two other notorious Superman villains, Zod and Metallo. And the way that the scene plays out suggests that Zod is the leader of the freedom fighters.

It looks like Superman will be teaming up with the freedom fighters! Meaning that Superman will be fighting alongside the one person who has ever killed him, Doomsday. Naturally, Superman will be wary about teaming up with these so-called heroes who he is used to being villains. But it's clear that almost everything is flipped on Overman's Earth and Superman seems to know it. If he is to take down the Nazis and return home safely, Superman will have to join the freedom fighters. Justice League Infinity #2 is available now in comic book stores and on digital platforms.
