Ahead of his superhero debut in Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson throws shade at Warner Bros. for sidelining Superman in the DCEU. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the DC Films project was long in development before it entered production. After years of waiting, however, Johnson will soon debut as the anti-hero in Black Adam alongside the Justice Society of America (JSA). Given its nearing release date later this month, the press run for the film has started with its lead star doing the media rounds to promote the blockbuster.

Specific plot details for Black Adam are still being kept under wraps, with its official promotional footage more focused on showing off action scenes and upcoming characters. Aside from its main cast, however, there have been rumors about DCEU cameos in the movie, specifically from Henry Cavill's Superman. The Last Son of Krypton kicked off the franchise in 2013 via Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, but due to multiple changes in the universe since then, his future in it remains uncertain. Despite the clamor for Man of Steel 2, Warner Bros. remains mum about when the hero might pop back up in the film series.

While discussing what to expect from Black Adam in an interview with Jake's Takes, Johnson discusses people's hopes of seeing his character face off with Cavill's Superman, given that the two are among the most powerful characters in the DC Universe. While the actor expertly evades questions about the aforementioned cameo rumors, he does criticize Warner Bros. for shelving the Man of Steel, who is arguably the most popular comic book character of all time. Read Johnson's quote below:

I was also listening to the fans at the same time where you have Black Adam. We’ll create Black Adam for him to be the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet. The most powerful and unstoppable force in the entire universe has been on the sidelines for too long.

Will Superman Appear In Black Adam?

For years, there have been rumors of Cavill's return as the DCEU's Superman. When news initially broke that he was supposedly out of the universe, the actor reasserted his continued ownership of the role. Despite multiple back-and-forths, however, there's still no concrete evidence that Warner Bros. plans on bringing him back anytime soon. But, that may all change in Black Adam. Between Johnson's star power and his expected prominence in the DCEU, he could very well be the only person who could convince the studio to finally give fans what they want and make Cavill's Superman return a reality. For what it's worth, the former WWE star has been dropping subtle hints that the Man of Steel will actually have a cameo in Black Adam.

It's difficult to argue with Johnson's Superman take. If anything, Warner Bros. should have been capitalizing on the superhero's popularity and incorporating him into as many projects as possible. Cavill's iteration is also generally well-loved, which should make it easier for them to use him more frequently in the DCEU. Hopefully, Superman's rumored Black Adam appearance marks Cavill's official return to the franchise that could not only lead to more cameos, but also the much-clamored Man of Steel 2.
