A new report reveals that James Gunn's Superman: Legacy is getting closer to finding the new Superman, along with the next big screen Lois Lane. The new DC Universe is coming as DC Studios is prepping several movies and TV shows that will be part of an interconnected franchise that will replace the DCEU. One of the biggest movies being worked on right now is Superman: Legacy, with Gunn writing and directing the reboot. Over the last few weeks, several casting reports have emerged about Superman: Legacy, but it appears the DC Universe installment is getting closer to finalizing its cast.

Deadline reveals that screen tests are coming up next week, with Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet and Tom Brittney moving on to the next round for the role of Clark Kent.

On the Lois Lane front, Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, and Phoebe Dynevor are said to be testing for the gig as the iconic Daily Planet reporter. The trade's sources stress that some of "the test deals" are still in negotiation phases, meaning they have not been locked yet.

It appears that Superman: Legacy is focusing on getting their Clark and Lois first before tapping any other role. According to Deadline, Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen are said to be the next characters they will cast after their two leads. If that is truly what DC Studios are going for, it begs the question if they are trying to get Superman and Lois Lane cast in time for an announcement.

The next big event that is coming up is San Diego Comic-Con, which would be the ideal time to announce the new Superman and Lois Lane during a potential Warner Bros. Discovery or DC Studios Hall H presentation. Given how Marvel Studios has essentially been maintaining the spotlight at almost every SDCC in recent memory, having Superman: Legacy castings and updates ready would be a way for Warner Bros. to compete with Disney for once.

It's not a huge surprise that Superman: Legacy is already getting to the screen test stage given that principal photography is gearing up for January 2024. That would give the cast the rest of the year to go through pre-production, whether it be training, costume fitting, or stunt training. Given these reports, it looks like Superman: Legacy will soon have its new Man of Tomorrow.
