It appears Superman's chains are finally being broken in a beautiful new piece of cover art for Action Comics by Daniel Sampere. In the midst of a harrowing new arc on Warworld, the Man of Steel has been consistently shown being chained as he finds himself a gladiator. Through his experiences, he's made shocking discoveries, including a survivor of Krypton who helps him adjust to Warworld and work towards making a grand escape. It looks like that escape is coming soon now because the recently tweeted cover art features some exciting implications of Superman finally breaking free...and it's sure to get comic fans pumped for how this chapter to the saga will come to an end.

Over the course of The Warworld Saga, written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson with art by Sampere, Miguel Mendonça and Riccardo Federici, fans have been treated to a story of highs, lows and the refusal of losing hope. After losing to Mongul's son in Action Comics #1037, Superman has been held in captivity on Warworld. He's been revealed to be getting weaker and has been forced to become a gladiator on the planet. Held on the planet by red sun generators that make him incapable of using his abilities, he meets other prisoners who are wary of him at first, but he gains their respect over time. One prisoner though, Kryl-Ux, is a former inhabitant of Krypton who was taken prisoner by Mongul years ago. Superman is shown to confront him on multiple occasions to discuss an escape plan and how to survive on Warworld.

The big finale can't be that far off though as indicated by the cover art for Action Comics #1041 recently shared by Daniel Sampere. In what he proclaimed to be the final cover he made for this story, it shows the chains that readers have grown accustomed to seeing around Superman now on the ground. They're broken with no one to hold down. What's interesting though is that they're not just broken but also form a recognizable symbol: the House of El sigil, also known as the "S" on Superman's costume.

There's no doubt about it that Superman's time on Warworld won't be much longer if the cover art is of any indication. The grand finale is quickly approaching, but it makes one wonder just how things will come to a close. With many factors keeping Superman on the planet, it'll be interesting to see what he does to break free. Above all though, it brings into question what the repercussions will be once he finally does escape. Earlier in the saga, Clark Kent's son Jonathan was threatened if Superman didn't give Mongul's son some information that he needed, which Clark refused to do. If Superman escapes, there will no doubt be a target on his son's back. Seeing as how Jonathan Kent has become increasingly well-known as he grows into his own, the aftermath of The Warworld Saga is sure to turn some heads.

Of course, the fallout of this story is still many issues ahead. For the time being, this new cover art shows that not only will Superman escape, but his symbol of hope will likely reflect on the other prisoners as symbolized by the shattered chains forming his symbol. It's sure to be a finale to remember and one Action Comics fans aren't going to want to miss.
