Whenever a superhero movie comes out, it’s a huge deal. We all flock to the theaters, grab a bucket of popcorn, and get ready to be transported into another universe.

However, these universes are extremely complicated worlds that are built up from scene to scene. Therefore, if we blink or miss a single moment, we could become utterly lost.

This is essentially what happens when scenes are deleted from movies – a director cuts an element of the movie that was originally used to tell the story of the world, plot, or a single character. It’s basically as if we blinked or went to the bathroom and missed absolutely everything about the film.

These deleted scenes are typically cut by the director because the movie was too long. However, sometimes moments are deleted because they simply didn’t work out.

If they were kept in the movie, it would’ve distracted you from the plot, changed the way you felt about a character, or simply confused everyone.

Typically, we’re glad that these scenes were taken out, but sometimes we just want to know what could’ve, should’ve, and would’ve happened.

So, get ready to become transported into a whole new universe, because here are the 12 Deleted Scenes That Would've Saved Superhero Movies (And 13 That Would've Hurt Them).

HURT: Magneto in a Dress in X-Men: First Class

Magneto is one of the biggest and baddest adversaries of the X-Men and it seems like nothing could break his character or diminish his power, right? Well, how about seeing him in a dress?

In X-Men: First Class, Charles Xavier and Eric Lehnsherr meet Angel Salvadore in a strip club and Magneto shows off his powers by levitating a champagne bucket.

However, the deleted scene takes their power show-off a step further and Xavier uses his mind powers to make Angel think she’s seeing Magneto in a dress.

The scene was ultimately taken out for good reason as it detracted from Magneto’s character, personality, and powers.

SAVED: Star-Lord and Drax Arguing in Infinity War

Infinity War was an amazing, universe-altering movie. However, one scene would’ve plugged one of the movie’s plot holes.

This scene takes place after Thanos takes Gamora on Knowhere and the Guardians are getting ready to fly away from the planet.

However, before leaving, Quill gets stuck in a rut and starts listening to the same song over and over. Drax complains, takes Quill’s Zune, and the two Guardians start arguing.

In the background, you can hear a beeping noise, and Mantis finally chimes in about a blinking yellow light. Turns out, Nebula had been sending “an important coded secret message” about where Thanos is taking Gamora.

This would’ve explained how everyone knew to meet on Titan.

HURT: Clark Kent Cameo in Green Lantern

Green Lantern - Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds)

Green Lantern has been widely known as one of the most failed superhero movies of all time. Even the star, Ryan Reynolds acknowledges its failure in Deadpool 2.

The film ultimately destroyed the image of Green Lantern throughout the DC universe and according to the writer, Marc Guggenheim, could’ve taken another hero down with him.

Guggenheim revealed that Green Lantern was supposed to feature a cameo by Clark Kent.

While you could argue that a potential cameo from another Justice League member could’ve helped lift the movie out of the gutter, it also could’ve just also poisoned Superman. It was probably a good thing that the Man of Steel stayed out of this one.

SAVED: Introduction of Steppenwolf and the Mother Boxes in Batman v Superman

Although pretty much nothing could’ve saved the fate of Batman v Superman, one deleted scene could’ve set up the next couple of DC films and added a touch of fan service.

Entitled “Communion,” this scene shows soldiers proceeding towards a Kryptonian ship.

When they enter, they see Luthor standing before a mysterious figure with three floating boxes in front of him.

Now, after seeing Justice League, we know that this mysterious figure is Steppenwolf and the floating cubes are the Mother Boxes that he’s trying to collect in the future movie.

However, introducing the villain earlier would’ve established an ominous tone and created a more connected DC universe.

HURT: Odin as a Bum and Loki Trapped in a Porta-potty in Thor: Ragnarok

Remember during the original Ragnarok trailer it looked like Hela destroyed Mjolnir in an alley? Well, that’s because it almost happened that way.

Originally, Odin wasn’t hiding out in the cliffs of Norway but was instead living as a bum on the streets of NYC. This is where his sons would’ve found him and where they would’ve met Hela.

Also, in the original version, Doctor Strange reunites Thor with his brother by handing him a key. The key would’ve led the God of Thunder to a porta-potty where Strange had Loki trapped.

Ultimately, these scenes had to be cut because it was hard to picture Asgardian royalty on the streets or in a porta-potty.

SAVED: All the Deleted Scenes of the Joker in Suicide Squad

Jared Leto as the Joker in Suicide Squad

Jared Leto made his debut as the Joker in Suicide Squad and whether or not you liked his performance, we can all agree that his screen time was extremely short and random.

This was because the movie was rushed to production and many Joker scenes were left out as a result.

For example, when the Joker’s helicopter crashed, there was supposed to be a scene where he makes a deal with Enchantress so that he could take Harley home and become King of Gotham.

However, Harley refuses to betray her squad, further adding to her character’s arc.

Other scenes that were cut would’ve further developed Joker and Harley’s relationship and improved on Leto’s addition to the film.

HURT: Lego Batman's Deleted Musical Numbers and Missing Villains

Lego Batman was full of superheroes and villains alike. However, the movie was originally meant to have more fan service.

Initially, the Phantom Zone would’ve contained more non-DC, R-rated villains such as Bill from Kill Bill, Annie from Misery, and Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York.

However, these villains would’ve completely gone over the heads of many of the younger viewers.

The director, Chris McKay also supposedly wanted to make the entire movie a musical, with each character and villain singing about their life and perspective.

This, however, would’ve distracted from the film’s story and created a completely different movie.

SAVED: Introduction of Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Donald Glover played a very small role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but he actually opened up an entirely new universe.

In the film, Glover’s character, a petty criminal that gets “interrogated” by Spider-Man, says that he doesn’t want any dangerous weapons in the neighborhood because he has a young nephew who lives there.

Some people may not have thought much about this nephew, but a deleted scene reveals that this kid is the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales.

The scene takes place after Spider-Man leaves Glover spidey-webbed to his car. Glover asks for help and eventually calls his nephew saying, “Sorry Miles, I’m not going to make it. I’m just stuck”.

HURT: Long Montage Scene inside a Mall in X-Men: Apocalypse

In X-Men: Apocalypse, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee head to the mall for an all-day journey. However, these scenes are actually cut from a longer montage.

According to the director, the longer version of the scene is “an entire montage of them hanging around the mall, going to record stores, going to an arcade that I named after my childhood arcade, Space Port...”

They’re simply having fun at the mall, strutting to “Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats.

Although it’s a fun and upbeat scene, it was very '80s-themed and didn’t fit in with the rest of the movie. It also would’ve distracted from the plot and simply taken up too much time.

SAVED: Fight Scene Between Okoye and W'Kabi in Black Panther

If you watched Black Panther, you probably left the theater wanting to see more of Okoye and W’Kabi. Well, a deleted scene could’ve scratched that itch.

The scene takes place after Killmonger defeats T’Challa in the King’s Challenge and takes over the throne of Wakanda.

Okoye and W’Kabi are arguing about what this means for the future of Wakanda and we get a better glimpse into their relationship.

It’s a touching moment that puts the entire conflict in perspective and would’ve added an extra layer of depth to the film.

HURT: Deadpool Puts a Bet on Amy Winehouse in the Pool

Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool

In the film, Wade Wilson’s mercenary bar has a “dead pool” where they place bets on who they believe is going to be taken out of the game first. This is essentially how Deadpool gets his name.

However, the original script had Deadpool betting on singer Amy Winehouse as the winner of the "dead pool."

Then, throughout the movie, audiences would’ve seen random scenes of a drunk, look-alike Amy Winehouse that would’ve led to her getting hit by a double-decker bus.

Sadly, Amy Winehouse passed away in 2011, during the filming of Deadpool and therefore the running gag was removed for obvious reasons.

SAVED: Battle Between Black Widow and Cap in Civil War

In Civil War, it’s a little random that Black Widow simply lets Steve and Bucky get away. However, a deleted scene could provide the answers to why.

The scene occurs at the abandoned airport during the giant fight scene. Eventually, Black Widow and Cap go at it, since they’re on the opposite sides of the “civil war.”

Cap overpowers Black Widow but is very careful about making sure she isn’t hurt. Before throwing her over an edge, he looks down to see if she’ll survive the fall and asks to make sure she has her gear on.

This act ultimately emphasizes their relationship and allows Natasha to return the kindness later.

HURT: Batman Gets Amnesia and is Saved by a Giant Bat in Batman Forever

Halfway through Batman Forever, the Riddler and Two-Face barge into Wayne Manor and shoot the Dark Knight. In the final film, Bruce simply shakes it off. However, the original scene takes an extremely weird turn.

In the alternate scene, the bullet gives Batman selective amnesia where he remembers his life as Bruce Wayne but completely forgets about his alter ego.

That is until Alfred tells him to crawl into a cave, discover his parents’ diary, and have his memories rush to his mind in the form of a giant bat.

This scene was rightfully declared too odd for the final cut, but the giant bat does make an appearance later in the film.

SAVED: A Longer Version of Thor's Vision in Age of Ultron

Chris Hemsworth Thor Injuries in Avengers: Age of Ultron

For some, Thor’s vision sequence in Age of Ultron seemed extremely out of place and it’s likely because the scene was cut to reduce screen time.

In the extended scene, Thor prepares to enter the magical waters of the Norn Cave with Dr. Selvig. He then recites something in Asgardian that means “The thing I fear contains the thing I need” and drinks from a flask.

When he emerges from the water, a possessed Thor says “human sacrifice” can stop Ultron and references the Mind Stone’s connection to Loki’s scepter as well as the other Infinity Stones.

This deleted scene would’ve provided a deeper insight into the Mind Stone and set the stage for Infinity War.

HURT: Odin Lets Malekith Take Out Frigga in Dark World

Frigga Thor: The Dark World

Besides Thanos, Odin is the worst father in the MCU. However, this scene would’ve also made him a contender for the worst husband in the world.

A deleted scene from Thor: The Dark World showed that originally, Odin was going to sacrifice his wife for the Aether.

Instead of handing it over to the Dark Elves, he would’ve ignored Frigga’s pleas for help and allowed Malekith to take her out.

Not only would this scene have completely destroyed Odin’s image throughout the rest of the films, but it also would’ve diminished Frigga’s sacrifice for Asgard and for her son.

SAVED: Bane's Origin Story in The Dark Knight Rises

Bane is a mysterious figure in The Dark Knight Rises, which some fans loved and some hated. If you’re one of the fans that hated it, it’s probably because you were lacking the character’s backstory.

Originally, Christopher Nolan shot a Bane flashback sequence that detailed his origins.

In this scene, Bane is injured in his youth and we learn how he obtained his ominous scar.

If the scene was left in, you also would’ve seen earlier versions of his mask and waist belt, as well as his training from the League of Shadows.

HURT: The Lizard Licks Girls' Faces in The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man is sometimes unmemorable in the minds of Spider-Man fans, but a certain deleted scene would’ve definitely made it stand out – in a bad way.

During the theater version of the film, The Lizard invades Peter Parker’s high school and gains entrance through the bathroom.

However, the villainous reptile was originally meant to enter through the girl’s bathroom, assault two female students, and disturbingly lick one of them.

The reason this scene was left out of the movie is extremely clear. It completely changed The Lizard's character and turned him from a villain to a straight-up creep.

SAVED: Mention of the Mother Boxes in Wonder Woman

While Marvel has constantly hinted at the appearance of the Infinity Stones, DC has been very shy about introducing the Mother Boxes throughout its films. Then, when they appeared in Justice League, it came as somewhat of a surprise.

This is because key scenes regarding the Mother Boxes were deleted from DC films, including one from Wonder Woman.

This scene shows Etta Candy meeting with Sameer, Charlie, and Chief Napi to propose another mission. She tells them that after the bombings in western Belgium, a very old artifact was found and they need to recover it.

After a scuffle, Etta distributes the mission papers and one of them holds a picture of a Mother Box.

HURT: Introduction of Strange's Sister in Doctor Strange

Superhero Movies Doctor Strange

If you’re a fan of Doctor Strange, then you may have noticed that there was something missing from his solo film – the Strange siblings.

This, however, wasn’t the original intention.

Director Scott Derrickson is also a massive comic fan and wanted to include Strange’s sister Donna into his backstory.

They shot many different sequences featuring Donna but eventually, she was cut from the movie. According to Derrickson, “It just didn’t fit in the movie, it didn’t work.”

Although adding his sister to the movie would’ve added more depth to the character of Doctor Strange, it also might have been too many plotlines happening at once.

SAVED: A Disney, Captain America, and Wolverine Joke in Deadpool 2

Deadpool Kills Hitler in the Super Duper Cut

Although it seemed like nothing was off-limits to the Merc with a Mouth, there were some jokes that were deemed inappropriate for Deadpool 2.

Ryan Reynolds revealed that Fox made him remove a Disney joke because of their impending acquisition.

Also, during the Sicily funeral scene, where Deadpool pops out of a casket, there was an additional fight scene that ended with Deadpool saying “You don’t see Captain America do that.”

Lastly, during the post-credit scene where Wade takes out the other version of himself from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the producers left out a joke where Deadpool tells Wolverine that he’s going to “hang up the claws” and make a lot of people sad.
