Though superhero movies are currently a huge hit at the box office, with nearly each movie release breaking some sort of record, they aren't everyone's cup of tea.

Understandably, there are a number of people who simply do no like superhero movies and don't go to see them.

While many people love seeing a super-powered hero flying around with a cape saving the day, there are some people who find the concept too campy or uninteresting.

There are also a number of specific superhero movies that simply don't live up to the expectations of the other superhero movies in the industry, such as Suicide Squad and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which make a number of people dislike them, including hardcore superhero fans.

Understandably, audience members aren't always the only people to strongly dislike a movie.

In fact, a number of superhero movie stars dislike the movies they are in just as much as some of the more disappointed viewers.

If anything, these stars may dislike the movie even more as they wasted months of their lives working on a movie that would ultimately be dissatisfying.

Likewise, there are also a number of actors out there who are enormous superhero fans and simply adore the roles they are selected for.

For many actors, being able to play characters like Spider-Man or Batman is a dream come true, making it the highlight of their careers.

With that said, here are the 15 Actors Who Regretted Superhero Movies (And 15 Who Adored Them).

Regretted: Chloë Grace Moretz - Kick-Ass 2

Whereas the first Kick-Ass was wildly entertaining, 2013's Kick-Ass 2 ultimately became a disappointment.

Many fans were anxious to see a franchise come out of the sequel, yet the poor quality of the movie stopped the franchise's potential in its tracks.

Understandably, actress Chloë Grace Moretz was disappointed by how the movie turned out.

She even cut her ties with the franchise shortly after, reportedly having no interest in returning for her Hit Girl spin-off.

"I love the franchise, I think the first movie was really, really special," Moretz said earlier this year.

"I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all," she stated.

Adored: Michael B. Jordan - Black Panther

It's no secret that a good portion of the world loved Marvel Studio's Black Panther, and one of the movie's stars is no exception.

Michael B. Jordan, who played the villain Killmonger, adored the movie and thought it was a great experience, with his character certainly having more depth than his character in 2015's Fantastic 4.

Since the release of Black Panther, Jordan has expressed quite a bit of interest in returning for the sequel.

While this may not be entirely possible, considering how Black Panther ended, it would still be great to see this dedicated actor return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Regretted: Michael Shannon - Man of Steel

Michael Shannon as Zod in the genesis chamber in Man of Steel

One of the worst parts about a disappointing superhero movie is when it wastes the talent of an incredibly talented actor.

Man of Steel arguably did this with Michael Shannon, who played the movie's villain General Zod.

Though Shannon never truly came out to say he regretted the movie, based on interviews, he seemed completely disinterested with the rest of the franchise.

"I'm so utterly unconcerned with the outcome of that fight," Shannon said about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. "So profoundly, utterly unconcerned. I can't even come up with a fake answer."

Adored: Margot Robbie - Suicide Squad

Though 2016's Suicide Squad was overall quite disappointing, actress Margot Robbie absolutely adored her role of Harley Quinn.

The movie may have received some harsh reviews, but it was at least a fun experience for Robbie, leaving her excited to play the character again in future DC movies.

"Harely is one of those, you know, insane characters," said Robbie. "And people do seem to really like her, so I hope I get to keep playing her."

Despite Robbie loving her character, though, she did have a few issues with the decisions made during Suicide Squad, specifically her outfit, which made her feel self conscious at times.

Regretted: Terrence Howard - Iron Man

Terrence Howard as Rhodey in Iron Man

Empire's Terrence Howard was the original actor for Rhodey / War Machine in 2008's Iron Man, before he was replaced in 2010's Iron Man 2 by Don Cheadle.

However, the reason why Howard regrets the movie so much isn't because of the movie itself, but specifically his interaction with the movie's star, Robert Downey Jr.

After Howard helped Downey get the job for Iron Man, Downey apparently successfully tried to take most of Howard's paycheck for the sequel, which seriously offended Howard.

"It turns out that the person I helped become Iron Man," said Howard. "When it was time to re-up for the second one, [he] took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out."

Adored: Gal Gadot - Wonder Woman

Why Wonder Woman Was Shot on Film

Of all of the current DC stars, Gal Gadot is perhaps the luckiest considering she is the only star with a solo movie that audiences and critics both seem to like.

Gal Gadot loved starring in Wonder Woman and has gained a special connection with her character.

"What I love about this character is she's not perfect," said Gadot. "She allows herself to show her flaws. She's this open character. So I think this is something that I relate to."

She continued: "I'm a person who's very open. I love people. I wouldn't say that I enjoy showing my flaws but I don't mind showing my weaknesses to the outside world because each and every one of us has their own weaknesses and flaws."

"So for me it's natural, and the more we feel comfortable with it the more lovely it is," Gadot stated.

Regretted: Andrew Garfield - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Andrew Garfield in Amazing Spider-Man

One of Andrew Garfield's biggest dreams came into fruition when he was cast as Spider-Man, but evidently, it was not everything he thought it would be.

Garfield was disappointed to learn that his depiction of Spider-Man wouldn't focus on the great superhero, and instead was focusing on bringing in money for the franchise Sony wanted to create to compete with Marvel.

“I found that really, really tricky," said Garfield about the struggle of playing Sony's new version of Spider-Man. "I signed up to serve the story, and to serve this incredible character that I’ve been dressing as since I was three, and then it gets compromised and it breaks your heart... I got heartbroken a little bit to a certain degree.”

Despite everything, Garfield still managed to give a great performance as the web-slinging superhero.

It's a real pity that Sony put his talents to waste.

Adored: Danny DeVito - Batman Returns

Penguin in Batman Returns

One of the most underrated and forgotten Batman movies is Batman Returns, which featured Danny DeVito as the hideous Penguin.

DeVito's performance in the character was truly fantastic, and the villain has not graced the big screen since simply because nothing can live up to DeVito's chilling performance.

Audiences aren't the only ones who loved the Penguin in Batman Returns. Danny Devito himself loved the experience, and adored director Tim Burton's vision for his character.

"Tim Burton, I love. I loved working with Tim," DeVito said in 2012. "It's like coming from inside his twisted brain!"

Regretted: Hugo Weaving - Captain America: The First Avenger

Red Skull Cosmic Cube Hugo Weaving Captain America The First Avenger

Earlier this year, Marvel fans were overjoyed to see the return of the villain Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War, but were disappointed upon learning that he was not portrayed by the original actor Hugo Weaving.

Unfortunately, Weaving simply had no interest in returning to the role after his experience with Captain America: The First Avenger.

"It’s not something I would want to do again," Weaving said a year after the movie's release. "I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn’t want to force someone to do it, if they didn’t want to.  I think I’ve done my dash with that sort of film."

As this year has shown, Marvel did not force Weaving to return, understanding Weaving's distaste with the franchise.

Fortunately, Weaving's absence didn't hurt Infinity War too much, as Red Skull's make-up was able to properly disguise the new actor.

Adored: Topher Grace - Spider-Man 3

Eddie Brock as Venom smiling surrounded by dark webs in Spider-Man 3.

It's no secret that a majority of Marvel fans were disappointed with the depiction of Venom in Spider-Man 3.

Though he acknowledges that there were issues with the character, actor Topher Grace does not regret playing Venom.

He knew it was a different version of Venom going into it and simply loved the experience.

“I understand [Sam Raimi’s] interpretation, which was to do a dark version of Tobey [Maguire]’s character,” Grace said.

He continued: “I was thrilled because I was such a fan of the character, but I was aware of how it was different from what I had grown up reading. I thought it was cool, but I’m really excited to see [Tom Hardy’s version]. That’s the character I grew up with.”

Regretted: Kate Mara - Fantastic 4

Kate Mara Fantastic Four 2015

Kate Mara was one of the stars of 2015's box office bomb Fantastic 4, and overall, Kate Mara was quite disappointed with how it turned out.

After reading the reviews for the movie, Mara became "a little bit gun-shy" and decided to just not see the movie.

When the movie's director Josh Trank took to Twitter to rant about how 20th Century Fox, Mara admitted that she was "disappointed" by the situation, likely being embarrassed with how things turned out.

“You don’t always have to learn some incredible life lesson when making a s*** movie. Sometimes it’s just what happens,” Mara said shortly after the movie's release.

Adored: Hugh Jackman - Logan

Hugh Jackman in Logan

If Hugh Jackman had any regrets about his role as Wolverine, it was that he didn't bring out the heart shown in Logan sooner.

After saying goodbye to the character last year, Jackman admitted that he loved the experience, earning the franchise, specifically Logan, a special place in his heart.

Considering that he played the superhero for 17 years, it's not really a secret that Hugh Jackman loved the role of Wolverine.

It certainly helped his career, and the role gave him something to rely on for nearly two decades.

It's safe to say that no one will be able to live up to the fantastic job that Hugh Jackman did as Wolverine.

Regretted: Christian Bale - The Dark Knight Trilogy

Christian Bale as Batman in The Dark Knight Rises

Though most people agree that Christian Bale was a great Batman, Bale himself wouldn't necessarily agree.

Though Bale liked the movies and director Christopher Nolan's vision, the actor doesn't personally think that his performances were that great.

“I didn’t quite manage what I hoped I would through the trilogy,” Bale said in 2016. “[Christopher Nolan] did, but my own sense of self is like, ‘I didn’t quite nail it.'"

He continued: "Batman, he’s this very, very dark, messed-up character. I found when I put on the suit I went, ‘I just feel like a bloody idiot if I don’t use this as a means to [show] his true, monstrous self that he allows to come out in that moment.’”

Adored: Jason Momoa - Justice League

Many DC fans were disappointed with how Justice League turned out, but Jason Momoa, who played the hero Aquaman, absolutely loved the movie.

After the movie came out, Momoa kept away from everyone hating on the movie and tried to make the experience as positive as possible.

“I’ve seen [Justice League] twice,” Momoa said shortly after the movie's release. “I loved it the second time even more."

"I’m actually going to watch it again with my kids and my godchild. I’m going to see it with the perfect crowd of people — a regular crowd instead of at a premiere. So I’m excited," he stated.

Regretted: Mickey Rourke - Iron Man 2

The year 2010's Iron Man 2 featured Mickey Rourke stepping in as Iron Man's new challenging foe, Whiplash.

Behind the scenes, Rourke took a number of leaps to give off the best performance possible, but when Marvel cut a majority of his emotional performance, he became rather upset.

"[It’s] ****ing too bad, but it’s their loss," Rourke said about Marvel cutting most of his material. "If they want to make mindless comic book movies, then I don’t want to be a part of that."

Hr continued: "I don’t want to have to care so much and work so hard, and then fight them for intelligent reasoning, and just because they’re calling the shots they… You know, I didn’t work for three months on the accent and all the adjustments and go to Russia just so I could end up on the floor."

"Because that can make somebody say at the end of the day, oh **** ‘em, I’m just going to mail it in. But I’m not that kind of guy. I’m never going to mail it in," he stated.

Adored: Chris Hemsworth - Thor: Ragnarok

Though Chris Hemsworth has enjoyed playing Thor since the first movie in 2011, he has stated that the development made with his character in Thor: Ragnarok completely turned him around, making the character a lot more interesting for him.

He had such a fun time being in that movie and playing with Taika Waititi that it has seemingly convinced him to continue playing Thor for years to come, assuming Thor survives Avengers 4.

“I felt like we re-invented him,” Hemsworth said about his portrayal of Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. “There is a bigger platform now to continue if we want to.”

Regretted: Wesley Snipes - Blade Trinity

Wesley Snipes in Blade Trinity

Many people were disappointed with how Blade Trinity turned out compared to the previous movies, yet evidently, the movie's star Wesley Snipes was even disappointed with the on-set experience.

According to Patton Oswalt, who was in the movie with him, Snipes was so unhappy with the production that he physically took it out on the director.

"He tried to strangle the director, David Goyer," Oswalt said in an interview with The A.V. Club.

According to Oswalt, Snipes went on to try to convince Goyer to quit, before being threatened to be fired himself.

For the rest of production, Snipes stayed in his trailer unless he had to be on camera and only communicated with the rest of the cast and crew through passive aggressive Post-It notes.

Adored: Tom Holland - Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider Man Casting Tom Holland

After idolizing Spider-Man as a child, Tom Holland received the chance of a lifetime when he was asked to star as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After his fantastic experience on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland does not want to let go and has said he may want to continue playing the hero for a couple decades.

"Peter Parker is a character we see [in the comic books] as a 15-year-old boy and then as a 35-year-old man," Holland said in an interview. "So I have an idea of what I'd like to do, and I've pitched it and it's already been taken into the boardroom."

"It would be really cool if it pans out, because it means I would be Spider-Man for a very long time," he stated.

Regretted: George Clooney - Batman & Robin

Batman faces Mr Freeze in the museum in Batman & Robin

The 1997 trainwreck Batman & Robin is still not a movie that audiences are willing to forgive, and it has become one of the biggest mistakes in its star's George Clooney's career.

Clooney has admitted that he rushed into the movie a little to quickly, and actually stopped doing blockbuster movies for a few years after because of it.

"With hindsight it's easy to look back at this and go, 'Woah, that was really s*** and I was really bad in it,'" Clooney said. "It was a difficult film to be good in."

"At that point I realized I'd better start picking better. My next three movies were Out Of Sight, Three Kings, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?," he said.

Adored: Sophie Turner - X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse - Sophie Turner as Jean Grey

Sophie Turner, who plays the new Jean Grey in the X-Men franchise, has absolutely adored the role.

Though some people were a bit disappointed with how her debut took off, she is still excited to keep playing the role.

"As an actress, it’s been amazing to play a superhero that people look up to so much and that people really love," Turner said, a year before X-Men: Apocalypse came out.

"To be a fan-favorite is also very new to me. I’ve been enjoying that a lot. It’s nice to just kick a**. I have a lot of pent up anger that I’ve been needing to release," she stated.

We will see more of Sophie Turner as Jean Grey in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which will feature the Game of Thrones actress in a much more prominent role.
