'Supergirl' Begins Filming - What to Expect: Premiere, Crossovers & More

Ever since the announcement that the Supergirl TV show from Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow) and Ali Adler (Glee, The New Normal) had been picked up for a full series commitment by CBS, the show has been moving quickly towards getting into actual production throughout these past few months with filming beginning early this morning.

As we now know, the cast for the show consists of Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, Mechad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Laura Benanti as Kara's biological birth mother Alura Zor-El, Chyler Leigh as Kara's foster sister Alexandra, and Dean Cain and Helen Slater in unknown roles.

The series will have most of the same creative team and crew from Greg Berlanti's other DC television ventures, but other than a simple plot synopsis and the talent involved, not much is known about Supergirl at this point. In fact, while it's been presumed that the series will premiere sometime in 2015, nothing has been confirmed concerning a premiere date for the show.

As previously mentioned, the filming for the pilot episode began today, with several tweets from members of the cast and crew releasing photos from the set. The hour-long episode will be directed by Glen Winter from a script penned by Berlanti and Adler. The Flash showrunner Andrew Kreisberg tweeted the following image from the set this morning:
