Mon-El finally returns next week on Supergirl in the trailer for 'Wake Up'. After being sent into space in the emotional season 2 finale of The CW show, Kara's boyfriend was nowhere to be found in the first six episodes of season 3. His absence was greatly felt in the show with Kara trying to cope with the loss of her lover by also trying to juggle all the other chaos that has ensued in her life since the outing kicked off. And while everyone should be happy with the lovebirds' upcoming reunion, fans should know better than to hope for an immediate happily ever after for the two as there is always a catch when it feels like something sounds too good to be true.

Kara and Mon-El's introduction to each other was not ideal as both had skepticisms about the other. As they continued to spend time together, however, they eventually developed an unusual friendship leading to a romantic relationship. Unfortunately, circumstances eventually forced them apart. In season 3, the Daxamite prince's absence has been weighing heavily on Kara's shoulders as she also starts to question her true identity of being an adopted daughter of Earth. As she wills Mon-El to come back to Earth, she is in for a great shock when her dreams of reuniting with him turn into reality.

The trailer for next week's episode of Supergirl titled 'Wake Up' teases fans of Kara and Mon-El's imminent reunion. The two seem to have a chance encounter possibly on the mysterious ship that was stuck underwater underneath National City. As fans know, the ship belongs to the Legion of Super-Heroes who are already geared up for an introduction to the small screen via the series. It also ties well with Mon-El's connection to the group as a longstanding member of the Legion in the pages of DC Comics. Unfortunately, it appears that the two can't just pick up where they left off, with the trailer not holding back on that. After the initial burst of happiness of finding love again, Kara starts to notice seemingly small things about the new Mon-El that bother her. Check out the clip above.

While we know what Kara has been up to in the past few months since Mon-El left, who knows what he has actually gone through during his venture into deep space. Perhaps it has something to do with the upcoming introduction of the Legion of Super-Heroes with the arrival of Saturn Girl (Amy Jackson) and Brainiac 5 (Jesse Rath) who will assist Supergirl's current big bad, Reign (Odette Annable) in fleshing out her evil plans. Word has it that Mon-El is actually married to Saturn Girl but we have to wait and see to get any more info about that as it appears the upcoming episode will focus on his relationship with the Girl of Steel first.

Whatever it is, there is clearly something that Mon-El does not want to divulge just yet and it is driving a wedge between him and Kara despite being physically together. Prior to the debut of season 3, it was hinted that his whereabouts (or now, where he went) is going to be a pivotal arc in the current run of the show, so we can expect to learn more about what really happened to him in the weeks to come.
