Now that Supergirl has settled into its new home on The CW Network, things have been moving fast for the second year show. The last daughter of Krypton has already traveled to an alternate dimension, made new alliances, and saved multiple planets from alien invasions. There is even an upcoming two-part crossover with The Flash that will feature Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in a musical episode.

However, those are only some of the surprises that the Supergirl show-running team have in store for audiences this spring. It's clear that Supergirl's writers/producers aren't afraid to shake things up or to pull from the rich history of DC Comics. They have already cast the former big-screen Supergirl and television Superman, with Helen Slater and Dean Cain respectively. Now they are going back to the Lois and Clark well one more time, by hiring Teri Hatcher to join the show in a villainous role for the second half of Supergirl's sophomore season.

It still hasn't been revealed what comic book character, if any, that Hatcher has signed on to play on Supergirl. The Desperate Housewives star first rose to fame by playing Lois Lane on Lois and Clark and now is prepping for her return to the superhero world. In an effort to share her excitement over joining Supergirl, the actress took to Twitter to give fans a glimpse of her new look during a costume fitting:

In the photo, Hatcher is getting fitted with a sleek, black chest plate that fits snugly over her black dress. The piece of costume doesn't give a clear indication of which DC Comics' villain the actress might be playing. However, the glimpse seems to point to her character being stylish and in a place of power on the show. The chest plate also seemingly indicates that there could be a measure of physicality to role, so it's possible that Hatcher might do more than simply bark orders from behind a desk.

There are a lot of open plotlines that will need to be addressed in the second half of Supergirl season 2. James Olsen has been grappling with his new hobby of moonlighting as a vigilante, the quirky presence of Mon-El, and a president who is hiding a big secret, are just some of the issues that will need attention down the home stretch. Hopefully, Hatcher's character blows away all expectations and is another worthy challenge that calls for Supergirl.
