Supergirl has aired on The CW for the past five years to generally positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The brightest and most positive member of the Arrowverse, Kara Danvers, played by Melissa Benoist, is the moral and spirited defender of National City, who always believes the best in people.

The show features a large and diverse ensemble of performers. Throughout its five-season run, several actors have joined the main cast, as both friends and foes. Being a superhero show, they need to look the part, and all of them largely succeed. And while some might be shorter than others, they're all on the same level when it comes to making the show as exciting and engaging as it is.

Tallest: Jeremy Jordan (5-Foot-10)

The tremendously talented Jordan, who was nominated for a Tony Award in 2012 for his leading role as Jack Kelly in the original Broadway production of Newsies, appeared in the show from the pilot episode until season 3. He played Winslow "Winn" Schott Jr., a tech wizard who first works with Kara at CatCo, before leaving to go work as a desk agent at the DEO.

One of the first people to know about Kara's secret, he helps her make her costume and aids in her adventures, before doing the same for James' Guardian identity.

Shortest: Tie - Melissa Benoist, Jesse Rath & Julie Gonzalo (5-Foot-8)

Despite being on the shorter end amongst the show's ensemble, all three actors in this entry are actually taller in real life than their comic book counterparts.

With a height of 5-foot-8, Melissa Benoist is taller than Kara Zor-El, who's 5-f00t-5 in the comics. Similarly, Jesse Rath, who's played Brainiac 5 ever since Season 3, is one inch taller than his character's supposed to be. Lastly, Julie Gonzalo is a full two inches taller than Acrata is in the comics.

Tallest: Tie - Chris Wood & David Harewood (6-Feet)

Chris Wood, Melissa Benoist's real-life husband, played Mon-El, the Prince of Daxam who crashes on Earth at the end of season 1. He stayed on the show for another season and eventually returned on season 5 for the show's 100th episode. He stands at an even 6-feet-tall.

So does David Harewood, who plays J'onn J'onzz aka the Martian Manhunter, Kara's mentor and close friend who's the head of the DEO. As a fun fact, the British actor is also an MBE, a Member of the Most Excellent British Empire. It is the third highest-ranking Order in the British Empire award. Pretty neat!

Shortest: Tie - Chyler Leigh & April Parker Jones (5-Foot-7)

Despite not being among the cast's tallest actors, both Chyler Leigh and April Parker Jones play two of the strongest, fiercest, most capable women in this notoriously feminist show.

As Supergirl's adopted sister, Leigh has been on the show from day one, playing the tough agent who serves as Jonzz's right hand at the DEO. For her part, Parker Jones joined the show in season 4 as Colonel Lauren Haley, a career military woman who always does what's best for her country.

Tallest: Tie - Sam Witwer & Staz Nair (6-Foot-1)

A familiar face for comic book fans, Witwer also played a famous villain in another famous CW show: Doomsday in Smallville, way back in 2008. At 6-foot-1, Witwer is actually one inch shorter than his character, Agent Liberty, is in the comics, though that doesn't really affect his performance.

Meanwhile, Staz Nair, who played Dothraki army chief Qhono during the sixth season of Game of Thrones, joined Supergirl during its fifth season, playing original character William Dey. He shares the same height as Witwer.

Shortest: Katie McGrath (5-Foot-6)

Fans of fantasy and sci-fi will recognize McGrath from her days as Lady Morgana Pendragon in the BBC's hit series Merlin. She joined the cast of Supergirl in 2017, playing Lena Luthor, half-sister of Superman big bad Lex Luthor and CEO of L-Corp, formerly named Luthor Corp.

One of Kara's closest friends and allies, she has quite the complex relationship with the Girl of Steel, especially after Lex reveals Kara's true identity to her. Super smart and resourceful, Lena might not have superpowers, but she's still a key figure in the show's world-saving antics.

Tallest: LaMonica Garrett (6-Foot-2)

The Monitor is one of the most powerful beings in the entire DC Universe. The main antagonist in the famous Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline, he ranked 49 in IGN's list of the Greatest Comic Book Villains of All Time.

First appearing in 2019, Garrett's Monitor served as the main antagonist in the sixth annual Arrowverse crossover event that featured not only Supergirl but also ArrowThe FlashDC's Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman. It takes a really imposing actor to play such an iconic villain, and with a height of 6-foot-2, Garrett certainly fits the bill.

Shortest: Tie - Calista Flockhart & Andrea Brooks (5-Foot-5)

Ally McBeal herself, Calista Flockhart, appeared on Supergirl as a regular on the first season, and as a guest in later episodes. She played Kara's boss at CatCo, Cat Grant. Flockhart is significantly shorter than her comic book counterpart, who stands at 5-foot-10.

Similarly, Andrea Brooks is shorter than Eve Teschmacher, albeit by only two inches. The character has appeared on Supergirl in a recurring capacity ever since season 2, before finally making the jump to series regular during season 5.

Tallest: Mehcad Brooks (6-Foot-4)

By far the tallest cast member of the show, Brooks stands at a towering 6-foot-4. Initially a love interest for Kara, his role later shifts into that of a close friend and ally. His lofty and muscular frame made him the perfect choice to play the Arrowverse's version of the vigilante Guardian, a mantle he takes during the show's second season.

Brooks is actually three inches taller than the comic book version of Guardian, not that it's any problem. And while he left the show in the fourth episode of the fifth season, he left a mark that'll be impossible to erase.

Shortest: Floriana Lima (5-Foot-3)

First appearing in season 2, Floriana Lima's Maggie Sawyer quickly became a fan favorite, thanks to her relationship with Chyler Leigh's Alex Danvers. As the first LGBTQ+ couple on the show, the two rose to the top of Supergirl ships. The two got engaged at the end of season 2, but eventually broke up early in season 3, following a disagreement about whether to have kids or not.

Lima is much shorter than her comic book counterpart, with the drawn Maggie being 5-foot-10. As a fun fact, the character previously appeared in another CW superhero show, Smallville, played by Jill Teed.
