[UPDATE: Dichen Lachman is confirmed to be playing Roulette. Read on for more.]
With its series premiere on CBS, Supergirl debuted to record high ratings for the Fall 2015 television season, but the show lost a number of viewers over the course of season 1. As a result of those ratings - and other factors - Supergirl was moved to The CW for its second season, where many believe it will fit better alongside fellow DC Comics shows Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Season 2 is set to introduce a host of new characters into the world of Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) a.k.a. Supergirl.
One criticism of Supergirl season 1 was its thinly developed villains such as Live Wire, Silver Banshee, Red Tornado, and various other short-lived antagonists. Still, these characters offered fans a chance to see some of their favorite DC Comics villains brought to life. Now, new photos from the set of Supergirl season 2 hint at a geek-favorite actress playing another villain from the DC canon.
Photos taken by Sean Koo and posted by YVRShoots on Twitter show Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Dollhouse) in a red dress with a snaking tattoo visible on her leg, stomach, and shoulders. Based on the costume design, it appears Lachman is playing DC Comics villain Roulette, a martial artist and math wiz when it comes to calculating gambling odds. The character is recognizable for her floor-length red dress and massive dragon tattoo that spans her body. Take a look at the photos:

UPDATE: Comic Book has confirmed with Warner Brothers and The CW that Lachman is playing Roulette on Supergirl season 2. Here is the official description of the TV show's version of the character:
"Based on the classic DC Comics character, Roulette runs an underground alien fight club in National City and she is eager to get Supergirl in the ring."
In addition to Lachman, these new Supergirl season 2 set photos feature Chyler Leigh as Kara's adoptive sister/DEO agent Alex as well as Floriana Lima as NCPD detective Maggie Sawyer. Based on the blocking of the characters, it seems the scene they're shooting includes Sawyer bringing Roulette into the police station, when they're confronted by Alex. However, which episode this scene takes place in or how far into the season it will be remains to be seen.
That said, this isn't the first case of set photos spoiling an upcoming season 2 villain in Supergirl since previously fans learned that Metallo would be fighting Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) through videos and photos taken from the Vancouver set. The CW then announced Metallo's inclusion in season 2 as well as the actor who would be portraying the DC Comics villain and details about the character. So, although the casting of Lachman hasn't officially been revealed, and character details haven't been given, there's a good chance that information will be released in the coming weeks.
Of course, without those details it remains to be seen how much Lachman will appear in Supergirl's sophomore season. She may be a one-off antagonist who only appears in a single episode, or she may have joined the CW superhero series for a more substantial role. Either way, viewers will undoubtedly hope the character she's playing - whether it's Roulette or another from DC's canon - will be well developed in Supergirl season 2.
The Flash season 3 will premiere Tuesday October 4 at 8pm on The CW, Arrow season 5 will premiere in the same timeslot on Wednesday October 5, Supergirl season 2 on Monday October 10, and Legends of Tomorrow season 2 on Thursday October 13.
