Those wanting to watch new Supergirl episodes are going to be waiting just a bit longer. The Girl of Steel is currently in her fifth season. There have been a number of notable developments. Kara began dating William, Lena forged an alliance with Lex, and Alex left the DEO after serving as director. In the previous episode, Alex entered the world of VR. As seen toward the end of the episode, the threat of Leviathan is ever present. Fans have been waiting for the show's return after all the Arrowverse programs were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now the wait will now be longer, but not by much.

The CW has announced Supergirl will return on May 3 (via CBR), one week after its original return date of April 26. The other Arrowverse shows - The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman, are all still set on returning later this month.

Crisis On Infinite Earths Supergirl

The upcoming Supergirl episode is titled, "Deus Lex Machina." Based on the episode's synopsis, it should be one of the most important episodes of the season. Viewers will finally see how Lex became the hero people perceive him to be in the world post-Crisis. The episode also marks the first time Supergirl actress Melissa Benoist sits in the director's chair.

It's hard to see where the endgame is for Supergirl season 5. It doesn't seem likely Lex will be killed off after dying previously, but the show could surprise viewers. Will Lena patch things up with Kara by the season's end? Fans will have to wait and see.
