Now that Supergirl has been on the air for a few years, the Supergirl season 5 cast appears to be bigger than any season before it. Originally airing on CBS and later moving to The CW, Supergirl's world (and universe) has increasingly expanded with every season, with iconic DC Comics characters, supervillains, and organizations making the jump from the page to the screen - and Supergirl season 5 won't be any different.

Supergirl season 4 ended one story arc - about the Red Daughter - but set up another one with regards to Kara Danvers' closest friends as well as Crisis on Infinite Earths. Supergirl season 5 expands the narrative in more ways than one and sees Kara face her toughest choices as a superhero. Supergirl season 5 was officially ordered in January 2019 and premiered in October, continuing to air on Sunday nights. This time, it airs along with fellow Arrowverse series Batwoman.
